Located in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, 10 miles from Sumidero Canyon, Palmareca Inn-Suites-Studio has accommodations with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a terrace. Room is very comfortable, I loved both the bed and pillows. Washroom is quite big as well. The restaurant attached to the hotel is amazing, with great food and fair prices. Hotel in Tuxtla Gutiérrez
Located next to Marimba Park, this modern hotel offers free Wi-Fi, free private parking and a small gym. The stylish air-conditioned rooms include a coffee maker and flat-screen TV with cable... This was an excellent hotel. Spacious. Clean. Great beds. Excellent daily cleaning. Wonderful breakfast. The room had a coffee percolator and provided coffee in specially prepared sachets. I had a really great view to which I woke up each morning. The hotel is well located near a busy square which was full of life in the evenings and a further 7 mins down the road, the main cathedral and town centre. A big supermarket was also close by. I walked everywhere except for when I made tripe to the zoo and botanical gardens.

Casa Venus is located in San Cristóbal de Las Casas, a 11-minute walk from Na Bolom Museum and half a mile from Amber Museum. The staff here are amazing and so so helpful. They were extremely welcoming when we arrived. Most importantly, they made sure I got my tablet back when I realised that I'd left it at the last place we stayed (at 9.30pm when I was getting a shuttle at 6am to Guatamela the next day ☹️). Can't recommend them enough. Tastefully decorated, great location, clean and great value. Also the first place we've stayed in that advertises it does not tolerate discrimination of any kind and is LGBT-friendly. Wish more places did this!

Tuxtla Gutierrez is the capital of the Mexican State of Chiapas and the location of the state's only major airport. Unless there is a specific reason to go there (I had one), it is no place for the casual tourist.
Great little gem. Really quaint. Good food on the square at sabores San jacinto. World class boat trip to Canon Sumidero. Recommend an overnight here in chiapas de corzo.
Not a very interesting place, with no interesting architecture anywhere, just a lot of ugly concrete buildings. The big market that I can always count on to be interesting was just so-so. I was surprised at how little I found for sale anywhere from the state Chiapas given the wealth of art and handicrafts in that state. I go to that city only to go to the airport to go somewhere else.
traveling solo I took the OCC bus, a long (7hrs) journey which allows you to see the back roads/country of Chiapas, its pueblos and people. The "Ruta Maya' shows of the rugged, wild countryside and the simple life of the Indios.
Cultural and cozy city. Weather is great, cool at nights and sunny during the day. You can find great international restaurants and of course traditional regional food. Trendy and classical restaurants with a great variety of spirits and wines. Museums , churches, markets, and the best is the people and the respect for each other. The travel agency we used Explorando Chiapas were fabulous in organizing the tours around the waterfalls, jungle, lakes, pyramids, etc. but you really need a couple of days in San Cristobal by it self to discover all the beautiful places .
It is the entry point to know Chiapas. There is not much to see other than the "El sumidero", but it is the best connected city in Chiapas, so, use it as your entry point then move to Comitan!
Strongly recommended destination, loved the town and the food is a plus, you must eat in town at TACOLETO tacos, and COCOLICHE world food, at the towns market(MERCADO) you have to buy chesse queso Chiapas or Ocosingo or Doble Crema, all three are the same, and handmade tortillas, all sorts of different foods and best of all, mostly everything is organic and cheap.
Tuxtla is an amazing place but Chiapas has tons of nature sites that you will not want to miss. Comitan de Dominguez has several sites that will fulfill any nature enthusiast's heart within 20-30 min driving distance
We liked that the city was walkable. We found many parks and museums to pass the time when we weren't on a tour. Tours are many. We went to Palenque, Aguas Azules, Chiflon, Lagos de Montebello, the Canyon outside of Chiapa del Corzo, a local ecological park and a short trip to San Juan Chamula. All trips are interesting and pretty. Chiapas has many indigenous people that wear their traditional clothes. The food is very good. When you tire of Mexican, there are Korean, Thai, Lebanese, Spanish and Argentinian ones you can try. Oh, and the coffee and chocolate grow in the state and are so good. Furthermore, if you like textiles, there is so much here to look at: rustic, elegant and everything in between.
Palenque
Amazing!!! The location, with its gorgeous garden and all the wild life sounds, but most of all the animals! The lovely monkeys (and other animals, pet dogs and cats), that the host takes care of within het sanctuary/rescue project! The rooms are spacious and well equipped (good AC and even a big fridge). Another high point is the rich and fresh breakfast! I would recommend this stay to anyone that loves animals and the nature (of gorgeous Chiapas, Mexico)
The staff was exceptionally friendly and professional, ensuring daily room cleaning. The hotel radiates cleanliness with a charming, artistic, and spiritual ambiance. Its central location eliminates the need for taxis or buses. Billy, the owner, was delightful, offering helpful directions and city recommendations. I'm grateful for the early morning check-in, especially after a long trip to Chiapas. I eagerly anticipate staying there again in the future.
It was probably the most clean hotel we have stayed during our 1 month trip in Mexico. Very nice location, close to everything, free parking for the car, basic but extremely clean rooms, spotless sheets and blankets. Coffee, water and some snacks always available. The price was good, and Comitan itself surprised us being very lovely, welcoming and nice city. We had great time there, definitely will stay again when exploring more places in Chiapas!
A great host that was quick to answer any problems we had. One day the gas finished and she had it changed in an hour. The location was very good near the center of town and close to the bus station. It is very easy to arrive from other areas of Chiapas and to get a collectivo to the waterfalls. The apartment is safe and secure. The design was very nice, clean and modern inside. The shower was very good with hot water and good pressure.
Comfortable mattress. Super hot water. Friendly staff. Wifi was fine but probably depends which room you get. It was very accessible from the highway but still easy to walk into the centre. There didn't seem to be a carpark but we did not ask because when we arrived there was a free spot directly in front of the hotel. Overall, given the prices in the tourist areas of Chiapas, this hotel has an excellent price-quality ratio.
San Cristóbal de Las Casas
Planet Hostel is absolutely amazing! Beautiful, colorful, super clean hostel in the central area of San Cristobal. And the most important, 10 out of 10 points for the amazing Guy working at the hostel - Erik! Super nice and helpful, thanks to him we managed to organize amazing trips around Chiapas for a very good price. Erik is the best!! ❤
Palenque
This place has in one of the most beautiful settings I have ever seen. The location and the grounds of the hostel are amazing, the staff are wonderful, the restaurant has delicious food, and all the facilities are really good. You can book tours to all the amazing places in Chiapas on site. The colectivos also pass directly out the front.
San Cristóbal de Las Casas
What a lovely place to stay for our first trip to Chiapas. Beautiful grounds, spacious apartment, really accommodating (and patient!) staff. We rented the apartment, so it came with a full kitchen, bedroom, living room and office. We LOVED making a fire every night in the living room. The property is a little Oasis!
We LOVED the location of this small hotel. The Staff were outstanding and tried very hard to please us with our requests. The decor was lovely. We loved the animals, monkeys and little crocodilla. The jungle was amazing - I LOVE Chiapas jungle. Macaws, and monkeys and everything was perfect.
San Cristóbal de Las Casas
El Mirador is my home away from home in Chiapas. I am on the autism spectrum and they always give me exactly what I need to thrive. It’s more like a family to me than just a hostel. The staff, guests, the vibe, the weather, and, of course, Luisa, The Cat. :-)
Very nice and confortable colonial hotel just a few meters away from the main square of one of the most beautiful village of Chiapas. Room was very quite with all usual facilities...surrounded by a lush vegetation and a nice swimming pool.
We absolutely loved this hotel. The location is ideal, the staff super friendly and the room very clean. It was definitely my favorite hotel throughout our Chiapas trip. The hotel is also super quiet at night which is a huge plus.
La Fortuna Gallo Giro
This ecolodge is like a dream. The location next to the river and waterfall are unreal. The food at the restaurant is also very good. I stayed at three difference ecolodges in Chiapas, and this was by far the best.
Wonderful place. Wonderful history. Wonderful people. The hotel is an anthropological institution for Chiapas present and past culture. Great installations, beds and baths. Good food and lovely crew.
Camino Real is Family operated & The attention shown to us was impeccable…It has been the highlight of our accommodations on an extended on going road trip through Chiapas Mexico…
Big room, helpful and english speaking staff, really helpful. It is not common in Chiapas. Owner invited us for special mexican dinner in the hotel, it was delicious.
San Cristóbal de Las Casas
Good hostel, good people, good tips to discover thé Chiapas and San Cristóbal.
the hotel with beautiful gardens made me feel that I was truly in Chiapas
Our room had a great terrace with rocking chairs and backed onto the jungle. There were lots of howler monkeys nearby and we could even see some near the room!
The gardens were very nice and the staff very kind.
