Amazing view from balcony over Amari Valley. The staff here are lovely and also really knowledgeable about local activities, walks etc. The veramder where you have breakfast also enjoys some incredible views.

The only negative, which turned into a very positive was that we were expecting a hot tub as described on-line, but it was a swimming pool instead which we did enjoy.

This was one of the best places that we have stayed in and we travel a lot. Starting with the staff they were helpful, outgoing, and genuinely interested in us and our comfort. We had three meals there and they were all excellent (I recommend the snails...a bit different than the French version, but very tasty). The apartment was very comfortable and the view of the entire Amari valley with Mt Ida right there was breath taking. Highly recommend this for more than one day. (They offer various excursions).

If I was to be super critical, the shower was cold, however, everything else outweighed this small inconvenience, anyway, I’ve watched Wim Hof, it’s good for you!!

Fabulous!! We felt like we had found a hidden gem!!! We spent 2 nights here while we were travelling around the Island, wished we could have stayed longer. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Room was clean with an amazing view from the balcony. We ate all our meals here, breakfast was plentiful and tasty, delicious home cooked food at a very good price. The owner offers foraging and other guided walks, we didn’t have enough time but wished we had. They are some lovely walks directly from the hotel but you do need a car to appreciate the whole area.

what can i say about this hidden gem? We LOVE staying here for a couple of nights on our road trip around Crte. The 2nd time we were here and it won't be the last for sure. Super friendly hosts, the restaurant is excellent, and the rooms are spacious, with amaing view over the West face of mount Ida and the Amari valley... you can just sit on the balcony, or on the copmfy sofa and look at that view. Great to have water from the spring in the fridge, and lovely olive products in the bathroom, the little pool is clean, we didn't swim but enjoyed reading there in the shade ofthe trees. We will definately be returning here for a couple of days pampering. thank you

Location is like 30 mins from Rethymno downtown and 1h from south part of island and southern beaches.

Staff was great. Tavern (restaurant) within hotel was great as well, spacey with excellent view. Pool is medium size but for this small hotel is like a private pool most of the days. There are also a small outdoor playground for kids.

Everything about this place is fantastic. The staff, the views, the property. It has a pool and playground. Wonderful spot for our family. Kids 7 & 10 loved it as well as grandparents traveling with us. The restaurant had the best food we had our whole vacation in Crete.

Can’t think of anything.

Every now and then I stay somewhere that feels truly special and Aravanes is one of those places. Run by a very kind family who ensured we were totally comfortable in this absolutely stunning part of Crete. It was unusually cold for the time of year (early April) but the room was cosy and snug. They lit the fire in the taverna each evening and put the central heating on - lovely after a day’s walking. Over the 3 nights we stayed, we enjoyed breakfasts in the sunshine with birdsong all around and amazing views of snow capped Psiloritis and the valley. Excellent value for money.

The view from the terrace was amazing. The staff was kind and funny, they were very accommodating. We had a little balcony at the room where we could see many stars, since it was so dark!
