  • “The location, on the side of a hill is amazing, 180degree views, i love the unique way the accommodation is spread across 3 buildings across 2 roads, we were in the furthest one, up next to the pool and we loved it. We arrived late at night, in the dark, it was early May and in the morning, the sunrise over the sea straight out from our balcony was EPIC! breakfast is boiled eggs, bread, fruit, yogurt, tea coffee. We used the hot tub one evening and got a glimpse of the sunset over the hill, id say you only get sunset, at the very very end of it setting over the headland to the west, the last week in May or maybe early june until end of june. We got a very small glimpse of it and it was very cool! You need a car in this area. Im not sure there's anything in walking distance. its only 20 mins drive to the carpark for Pico de Ruivo so we were delighted with that!”

“Lucia was perfect host and really made us feel like home! Very friendly, open and warm-hearted woman. We felt welcomed and well taken care of! The apartment was tidy and comfortable. If you’d like to feel real Madeira vibe, and experience authentic location in non-touristy spot, this is the place.”

  • Casa Os Manos Review score: 9.3

“We spent two nights at this small hotel and were very satisfied. The hosts were extremely kind and accommodating. Our room was clean. The breakfast was delicious. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay.”

  • “Location is 30-45 min away from the main towns on the south shore but in a less populated area close to ocean epic view hikes and the popular mountain hikes including to the highest mountain on the island Pico Ruivo. Views from the balcony are great and hot tub is fantastic to relax and massage muscles after a lo g day of hikes. Wifi is good, rooms clean, there is a kettle in the room to make tea, and restaurant is near by. Park right next to the building on the street if you have a car. There is also a fantastic ocean view hike right off the property that leads to the rocks in the ocean.”

  • AL - Perola Dourada Review score: 8.6

“Spacious place. Lovely views. It had all the amenities we needed. Located a short walk into the centre of town.”

  • “Lili and Marco are great hosts, very friendly, responsive and they really care about you having a great time. The apartment was as described, very clean and had everything we needed. The quite large terrace was perfect to enjoy our breakfasts, coffees in the afternoon or dinner. The location is also great, very quiet area, we loved that you could hear the water running through the Levada during the day and night. Within 10min we could walk to the centre of Santana (up and down as typical on Madeira). The house is on the route to the Levada do Caldeirão Verde (<10min by car) and within 20min you reach the parking of Achada do Teixeira from where you can start a hike to Pico Ruivo. We especially appreciated the evenings in Santana, when the day tourists left and the city became calmer. It gives you time to visit the traditional houses with almost no one else and enjoy restaurants/bars with few tourists and locals. All in all we had a great stay here and can recommend it.”

  • Refúgio das Camélias Review score: 10

“My stay at Refugio das Camelias exceeded my expectations. The hosts were wonderful, very kind and helpful. Upon arrival, I received fresh fruit, some basic groceries, and a wonderful treat in the form of exquisite homemade wine! The room was very clean and comfortable, featuring a large bed, a private bathroom, and a well-equipped kitchenette. The room also had a balcony with a beautiful view of the mountains. Finding the property was easy despite the narrow and steep roads; from the roundabout in Fainal, there are signs indicating the remaining distance to the property. In my opinion, this is an ideal place to stay. Not only is the area beautiful, but it's also close to most of the island's stunning spots. Without a doubt, my next stay in Madeira will also be with you! Highly recommended.”
