Love that it is only 8 miles to the Oxford Casino with a shuttle to and from. Cyndi's restaurant is perfect, from pizza to lobster. Easily accessible to major cities (Portland) or smaller villages, like Naples, Norway, etc. In the summer, our favorite outdoor activity is bocce, swimming (beautiful golf course also) and sitting with a drink on the large porch of the Maine Inn or reading on the quiet grounds. Also enjoy the double swings on the property.
The beach is great for walking when the tide is out. There are a lot of choices for staying close to the beach. There are a variety of restaurants to suit every taste. Love the book exchange store, the proximity to the Maine Mall, and Portland.
Loved Portland, defiantly check out holy donuts, duckfat and the Maine table for places to eat. Also the love lick fence was really cute. And of course a lighthouse must be included in your trip if going to Maine
Love Wells..we want to move here some day..or at least in the area. Try Congdon's for fresh doughnuts or breakfast..The Maine Diner had delicious food also..seafood was as good if not better than the more upscale restaurant down the road.
We love Old Orchard Beach as we are familiar with the area. It is also a good place to vacation as it is reasonably near Nubble Light, the Maine Diner and Ken’s Seafood restaurant. It’s not far from the Maine Mall. We get on the highway and go to L.L. Bean in Freeport also. We love OOB!
Ogunquit is so quaint. Lovely town right on the sea. So many awesome shops and restaurants. Walking Marginal Way is a must. I’d recommend eating at Bessie’s for breakfast and Five-0 for dinner. The food at both places is never a letdown. The city is very gay friendly. Maine Street is a happening spot to check out with drag shows and live DJ entertainment.
Our weather was very gray and cool... unusual for the time of year. The craft breweries were great. Primo restaurant, an amazing experience, outrageous dinner and ambience. Lovely, Maine coastline. Easy driving to neighboring towns. The best lobster roll at Mcloons!
I loved going to see the light houses and on the boat tour. Maine is so beautiful! Saco was not to bad to manuver in and around. Outside Saco was a challenge at times when we visited other towns.
Head Light lighthouse and park area with walking trails was beautiful. Have the lobster BLT at Bite of Maine food truck. The Foodie tour in the Old Port was very good and a nice way to see the area. The seafood was delicious! And try a whoopsie pie.
Wen t to Bath for a Maine wedding in Bristol ME Fun small town Shore area Maine city Walk nearly everywhere People were kind and friendly Excellent point to visit surrounding area
Not a walking neighborhood, but close to downtown and highway which got us to other places in Maine visited during our vacation. Hotel was understaffed when we visited in June, but housekeeping staff were attentive when assistance was requested. A no frills hotel, but clean and in good condition. Appreciated the availability of self-service laundry, which was also kept clean. Like the suites this chain offers--again, no frills, but like the extra space and the little kitchenette area.
Too expensive to NOT have a full service restaurant on site. Only restaurant is a building a short walk away but it’s only open for breakfast AND not on Tuesday. Weird. Wasn’t expecting to hear constant traffic noise but the view of the bay from our balcony was worth it. Loved that we could open the door and pull the screen shut for the cool air. Bed was super comfy. The selling point for us was hotel being on the bus line to downtown Bar Harbor. First time to Maine.
Hotel was spotless and cheerful. I cannot say enough about the hard-working staff! Everyone in Maine is suffering staff shortages. The folks working the hotel and specifically the pub/restaurant are amazing. A tour bus showed up just as we ordered dinner. Only two ladies were working (one was the bar tender)...they were rushed off their feet, but they were professional, cheerful, and polite to everyone. Great job! Oh, and the food was great!!
Rangeley
The location is at the edge of town, with a partial view of the lake. The rooms are decent, and the facilities good. The front desk staff was friendly, and offered good suggestions for dining -- Rangeley's restaurants are still coming out of the pandemic, and most have limited hours and days -- all close relatively early which seems to be a typical Maine thing. There are two fire pits, although one is in the parking lot.
This was a great home base for a week on the coast of Maine. Walkable to everything in Rockland (ferries, sailboats, restaurants, convenience stores). Plenty of good food in all directions. Easy drive to Boothbay, Camden, etc. Hotel was clean, and housekeeping could be scheduled only on days you actually wanted it. Balconies gave morning sun and fresh air, and the windows actually open. Ample free parking. Will return.
Perfect location for us, close to the highway (we were driving from Nova Scotia to Ottawa via Maine). We chose it over other hotels as it had a pool. Pool is small but adequate for a quick dip (don't expect to do lengths). Room was clean and had everything we needed other than the AC unit was broken. It wasn't too hot and we weren't staying long so not a big deal for us. Reception staff were lovely.
What a gorgeous location. This hotel was the highlight of our trip to Maine. Beautiful ocean views from our balcony. We sat outside in November just to enjoy the ocean. The continental breakfast is an actual menu of fancy omlette's, breakfast sandwiches etc. The food was delicious and the bistro meal was super high end. Everything is so upscale and it's so close to main street. Absolutely loved it.
My first ever time to Maine (and the East Coast) was most enjoyable. The hotel room was very clean, the bed quite comfortable, location superb, and the staff met every expectation. We stayed our previous night in Augusta but wish, now, that we'd booked both nights in Ellsworth. I would definitely recommend the Colonial Inn Ellsworth to any who come to enjoy Maine.
We traveled there from Limestone Maine where we vacationed with family and we stayed there as we were flying to chicago and our flight was at 5:10 AM. We did not spend much time at the hotel. Beds were comfortable. We were unable to enjoy the free breakfast because we left so early. It would have been nice if they started breakfast earlier for those staying for travel.
Old Orchard Beach
When we got married in September, 1987 we went to Maine and stayed at Old Colonial for our Honeymoon. We have stayed several more times over the years most recently this year. One year we tried another hotel and were disappointed so immediately went back Old Colonial. Great staff and the updates to the rooms are amazing. We will be back whenever we go to OOB for sure!
Ogunquit
for many years my wife an i stayed here, there was an error in booking and they had the nerve to charge me $273 for a night i never booked, when we go its 3-4 nites not just 1,they refused to refund for the fraud reservation, never again will we be staying here,we stayed at many hotels in ogunquit, there loss,of a great customer that travels monthly to maine on vacations,
This hotel is located in Camden, in Maine at about 1h30 from Bar Harbour and the Acadia National Forest. Very typicall american hotel with nice furnitures in new england style, big rooms, soft bed, very good clean, Housekeeping every day under request, very good and typicall american breakfast, with fresh handmade biscuits, very kind and professional staff. Super!
Wells
We decided last minute to come up to Maine but because it was 4th of July, our hotel choices were limited due to availability. We chose Seacoast Motel because it was available but had no idea what a wonderful place it was. It is very clean, the staff is fabulous and the location is perfect. I would highly recommend it and we can’t wait to come back.
The hotel felt very much like Maine. The hotel was clean and the staff were helpful. The location was perfect for walking to shops and restaurants. We were there during a snowstorm and the staff was very considerate and brushed off all the cars in the parking lot. Very thoughtful staff.
Old Orchard Beach
The beach was fantastic ! Staff was very personable. Housekeeping was better than when staying at a HIlton Hotel. The restaurants that were open were great. This was our first trip to Maine. When we returned home to Ohio we were asked if we would go back and our answer was yes.
Wells
We have stayed in many hotels/motels in Maine for many years. Second favorite place by far. The first was a room right by the ocean shore. That being said this will be the first place I’ll book next year. Clean rooms comfortable beds and a friendly great staff!
We love this location in Wells Maine - close to everything we look for (.. restaurants, stores - near beach) and short distance from visiting other favorites (ie: the Outlets or Oginquit) as well. The hotel was very comfortable and had everything we needed.
Well-located hotel just outside the downtown area of Bar Harbor making it easy to walk, take a shuttle or drive into town depending on your agenda. Lively pool and hot tub that remain open when it's raining in Maine (frequently).
Hotel is ideally located near the Portland Maine Airport and is very clean. Once I arrived, check in was quick and easy despite a visible shortage of staff. I had no issues after my check in. Overall, everything was ok.
Wonderful hotel right next to Short Sands beach in York, Maine. Very friendly staff, nice rooms and a great little pub right on the premises. You cannot beat the location or the comfy beds and super clean room.
