Hotel in Cardiff
Set in Cardiff, 10 km from Cardiff University, The Gwaelod y Garth Inn offers accommodation with a terrace, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar. There are only 3 rooms in the building we stayed in, it was nice and quiet. There was a large wardrobe and the toiletries and towels in the bathroom were nicely presented, they had also provided a couple of boxes of tissues. We were pleasantly surprised to discover a small fridge with some drinking water in it and some fresh milk for the tea and coffee (the owner told us later that he supplies fresh milk because he dislikes UHT milk in his own tea and coffee). We stayed for 3 nights and had a superb breakfast each morning. I'm pleased I took their advice and booked an evening meal in advance, the restaurant is very popular. Our meal was so tasty that we booked for the following evening too, that meal was also extremely good. The staff were very welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. When I was originally booking the room I was concerned about the check-in time because we were going to a gig in Cardiff on the first night and wouldn't get to the hotel until well after the check-in time. However when I mentioned my problem they replied swiftly and arranged a self check-in which went very smoothly. Parking was nice and close to the entrance to the accommodation. We will definitely be booking again next year when we're back in Cardiff.

The Mumbles
This apartment is spacious, comfortable and well appointed. So good to have all the facilities:- washer/dryer, iron and ironing board, drying rack and well equipped kitchen. The location is excellent with lots of great places to eat, drink and shop only minutes away. The Mumbles is a great place from which to explore south Wales and this apartment was a haven to return to each day. Management team were easy to contact, quick to reply and offered helpful info.
Location within Treorchy can't be faulted (its a small place) and Treorchy was a good base for exploring this part of South Wales, around half way between Cardiff and the Brecon Beacons. Value for money was superb and whilst you need to go to Greggs (short walk down the high street) for breakfast the hotel gives you a £5 gift card to be spent on anything. Staff were really friendly and I was pleasantly surprised to see how busy the bar was.
When I booked this hotel it was for a weekend break for horse riding. It is in a very good location for exploring South Wales. We drove into Brecon Beacons within minutes of the hotel. The hotel is small but perfect for what we needed it for. Rooms very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Restaurant was lovely traditional setting with very good food. Bar is cosy for an evening drink. Breakfast options were great.
Lovely hotel and spa. The staff were really helpful and accommodating, and from the conversations I overheard they clearly get a lot of regulars staying. My partner and I used the spa facilities which were clean and varied enough for a quick visit. The dinner was excellent, and I have a gluten allergy which they catered to really well, a number of good options and gf bread . Overall I would stay again if visiting south Wales.
The hotel was super clean, the beds were comfortable, the staff were professional and friendly and the location on the Mumbles foreshore was excellent. There were many good food options - both at the hotel as well as nearby. All day parking was available near the hotel for GBP6. The hotel was well situated to explore the Gower Peninsula and South Wales. We would definitely stay at the Oyster House again.
Air conditioned hotel was a perfect location for our short golf trip. Breakfast was delicious as were the evening light bites. Pool and spa were excellent and clean. Staff were fantastic, everyone we spoke to were helpful and happy in their work! Lovely fox appeared at night as well 😁❤️ Will definitely be looking to book another weekend trip and sample some more of the South Wales hospitality.
The staff made us feel comfortable as soon as we arrived. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean with large rooms, and the parking was free with more than enough spaces. We ate in the restaurant which had great food served quickly by friendly staff. Breakfast was amazing. If I am staying in South Wales again, this hotel would be my choice.
Abergavenny
Everything. The hotel was quaint. Open fires trestle tables and pew type wooden seating. The breakfast was exceptional. All local Welsh produce. Excellent coffee which I was advised came from Bridgend in South Wales. Homemade bread and jams. Loved it. The bedroom was so cottagey. Comfy bed. Great choice of teas and coffees and chocolates.
The hotel is located in a very old and historic building in a small and historic village close to Bridgend and the South Wales coast. There's a large car park and a cosy, warm bar. Our room (no.5) was spacious and well appointed with a big bed. Service was very good as was the food at breakfast and dinner.
We stayed Sunday night to break up the long drive from East Yorkshire to our holiday lodge accommodation on the south Wales coast (Laugharne) Modern, clean, cosmopolitan, friendly staff, good value Lovely 3rd floor outdoor seating Car park - short walk to hotel entrance Nice breakfast Great value
The hotel is very conveniently located in the centre of the town (stqtion, park, shops all very close). My bedroom was very comfortable and well-appointed. On my recent trip to south Wales, I stayed at three different hotels, of which this was the most comfortable and best value for money.
We have stayed here many times before and its great location for mountain biking in South Wales and for short breaks in Swansea area. Hotel is excellent value, comfortable and well positioned...if you ignore Port Talbot steel works to the East.
Location from the motorway and also access to the major towns in south wales. Rooms were big enough and very clean. Decor in rooms was very dated and in need of redecoration. Public areas in Hotel were very nice, clean and modern.
Practical clean comfortable descent, more of a business hotel but also a good base to explore South Wales and the valleys. Elements of a 4*hotel. Friendliest of staff knowledgeable and professional. A very pleasant stay
Swansea
Ground floor apartment with dedicated parking right next to the door with view of the beach. I think during the summer this apartment is a perfect base for exploring the beaches of South Wales.
From arrival to departure first class.the service food the room will recommend the hotel to anyone travelling to South Wales,we will definitely be staying again
The hotel was in a great position to travel to all different parts of south Wales. The view was good from the room, plenty of outside area, a short walk to town,
Blackwood
