Rural Residence “ATHENA"
Rural Residence “ANNA”and "ATHENA", two different houses, next to each other, are built entirely with local stone which the original owners used centuries ago. A stone arch divides the ground plan into four autonomous areas on the side, without disrupting the unity of the space. The areas are adjusted to the contemporary needs of accommodation preserving their original form and they include two sleeping areas with two double beds, a fully equipped kitchen (oven, ceramic cooker, fridge, coffee maker, toaster, etc), a dining area and a living room area with the authentic fireplace (which was used for heating and cooking). A very special feature of the house is the stone “grape press” which was preserved in its original form and is used as a second sleeping area. The bathrooms equipped with all modern facilities like a shower, an independent toilet area, handmade basin furniture, a washing machine and wardrobe. Rural Residence “ANNA” has a bathroom (23 square meters) which is by the house. There is also a private yard with the necessary furniture, a desk, an ironing board, Internet Wi-Fi, etc. The stone walls keep the house cool in the summer, so air conditioning is not necessary.
***You will find in Sitanos Village: Products grown in a traditional way, without chemicals such as vegetables, olives, fruits, eggs, local cheeses, etc. Traditional products such as honey, cheese, wine, raki and extra virgin olive oil. The authentic Cretan hospitality of the few residents. Moments of relaxation and absolute calm in an authentic old Cretan neighborhood, without depriving you of the comforts of the modern lifestyle that we have discreetly incorporated into our homes. Traditional coffee shop can offer small traditional meals upon request. ***You will not find ... Cars. Seventy meters before the houses there is a private area where guests leave their cars. Garbage. There is the following procedure in Sitanos: what is eaten goes to the kitchen, what is not eaten naturally by humans is food for the domestic animals of the village, the rest are collected in bins in order to be rejected. Mini market. The "belief" of the few inhabitants of the village of Sitanos is to share the products of my garden with my guests. Eleni, Maro, Zacharo, Chrysoula, Panagiotis, Giannis, etc. offer free of charge that they produce their orchards, as well as fresh eggs and milk.
The village is built on the slope of two hills and the orientation of the old neighborhood is such that offers impressive views from all the residences and is located in the heart of Sitia Natural Park which recently joined the UNESCO Geopark network enabling the visitor to enjoy its tranquility Semi-mountainous landscape of the hinterland with many marked hiking trails. Only 25 to 30 minutes drive and you reach the beautiful beaches north, east and south of Sitia province (Kato Zakros, Xerokambos, Kouremenos, Chiona, Vai).
