Albergo Parco Gran Sasso, hotel in Castel del Monte

Set in Castel del Monte, 11 km from Rocca Calascio Fortress, Albergo Parco Gran Sasso offers accommodation with a shared lounge, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant.

It's a basic no frills type hotel but that said, the hotel itself is kept very clean as are the rooms and bathrooms. Shower is a good size too. I'm 183cm and it was just fine. Staff seemed friendly enough and the complimentary breakfast was fine. Again nothing overly special.

DESTASU' is a new building in the medieval town of Castel del Monte. It is built in harmony with the town so you don't even realise it is new from the outside. The facilities are very modern and wonderfully comfortable. It is a small boutique hotel and wellness centre. Breakfast was delicious. Marco was a fabulous host

Azienda Agricola Mappavel's, hotel in Castel del Monte

Featuring a bar, Azienda Agricola Mappavel's is located in Castel del Monte in the Abruzzo region, 10 km from Rocca Calascio Fortress and 29 km from Campo Imperatore.

I had a great time staying at Azienda Agricola Mappavel's. Sara and her husband looked after me very well, giving me a warm welcome on a cold February night. The room was clean, warm and comfortable. The breakfast was lovely and plentiful, including delicious cake home baked by Sara. I enjoyed a lovely conversation with Sara, who speaks some English in the morning and she was helpful with recommendations. Sara and her husband's warm welcome continued when I went on to stay at a house in the village, as they run a very popular cafe/bar, and also sell their own delicious beer. They were always welcoming to me, very important for a woman travelling alone. I am very fussy with how my coffee is served and they always served that perfectly! The village where the B&B is at the heart of - Castel del Monte - is a very friendly and beautiful village in a stunning area - I will definitely return!

Sextantio Albergo Diffuso, hotel in Castel del Monte

Sextantio Albergo Diffuso offers unique accommodation in the fortified medieval village of Santo Stefano di Sessanio, deep in the Abruzzo hillside, at 1250 metres a.s.l.

There is a very interesting story about this Albergo Diffuso. The village is amazing and the room is very nicely rennovated and very confortable. The staffs were very kind and helpful in carrying baggages, booking restaurants and telling us the story. Breakfast and lounge were also very nice abd confortable, as well as the restaurant.

La Casa Sù Le Dimore Del Borgo, hotel in Castel del Monte

Set in the small village of Santo Stefano di Sessanio, La Casa Sù Le Dimore Del Borgo is inside Abruzzo's Gran Sasso National Park.

The room and the cleanliness are realy exceptional. The owner is very friendly and very helpful nice person. Everything was just great. The heating is perfect in the room and so in the bathroom. The breakfast a bit poor, just sweeties and yogurt, both I dont eat. But, actualy, the room was so great, beatifully designed, comfortable and clean, that everithing else just does not realy matter. The village is charming! Very recommended!

Residence Il Palazzo, hotel in Castel del Monte

Housed in a 17th-century building, Residence Il Palazzo offers rustic-style rooms and apartments.

Fantastic setting just outside the medieval town centre and a fantastic and carefully renovated building. Easily accessible by car. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was excellent, although heavy on cakes and sweet breads. It would have been nice with some more protein options, such as cheeses and salami. Coffee was outstanding.

A superb little town in the heart of Aquila province with some serious character. It's no wonder they picked this town to shoot The American with George Clooney. Multiple cafes, restaurants and artisanal shops line the main street. Most of the food and wine you'll consume here is locally sourced and you'll instantly tell that by the fresh taste alone. This town also makes for an excellent jump point to visit the great Aquila region which is steeped in history dating back to 600 AD!
