Surrounded by beautiful countryside, the Horta Da Coutada is a small guest house offering rustic accommodation in the pretty village of Telheiro, 1 km from the medieval town of Monsaraz.

At one end of the courtyard is the Sala do Jardim – the garden room. This is the perfect place to enjoy your continental breakfast or enjoy a fine wine whilst admiring the pretty views.

Joana and Anabela were wonderful, the breakfast was lovely and varied and had a great homemade touch, and the room was excellent. We really loved our stay and definitely want to come back. It was cold so sadly we didn't get to enjoy the pool but the outside area (pool, garden, plenty of cozy places to sit and read) was great to walk around!

At the guest house, all units include a desk, a TV, a private bathroom, bed linen and towels. A microwave, a fridge and minibar are also featured, as well as a coffee machine and a kettle. Guests can enjoy a meal at an outdoor dining area at the guest house.

A Very Special pup, one of those that grace Monte da Pega, seeking solace. A fallen, desiccated tree, wrenched from its root, rests against the bordering wall adorned with vines. This tree only emanates purple, pink, and lavender hues by night. An olive tree, age-old with over two millennia, and enchanting, colorful birds on the wall, provide daytime companionship to the puppy. In the distance, the silhouette of Monsaraz Castle completes the backdrop. This is how my screenplay unfolds. Nights at Monte da Pega, sleep eluded me as its enchantment took hold. I wrote over the span of two nights, amidst open fields, alongside my characters who had evaded my grasp for two years. I caught naps during the afternoon, when the warmth embraced the land. All that I've penned above exists, a tangible reality. I wrote over the span of two nights, amidst open fields, alongside my characters who had evaded my grasp for two years. I caught naps during the afternoon, when the warmth embraced the land. In "Miura", Penguin Random House Group, Ago 2023

Unique and authentic place to stay, it’s like going back in time, nice!!! Everything is like described and how you see it on the pics. We loved the stillness in the early morning before all the tourists are coming and the views from above, beautiful sunsets:)

Such an amazing place to stay! Very very special! Peaceful, amazing view over the castle. Lovely outdoor swimming pool and garden, beautiful plants everywhere. Many beautiful touches like a welcoming note with a poem and oranges from their orchard. Delicious breakfast set up in a wonderful spacious, filled with art living / dining space. Dreaming of coming back and spending a week. The evening wasn’t too clear, so unfortunately we see a sunset over the castle, so def coming back to enjoy the stay and sunset and all this magical place has to offer. Muito obrigada e até logo.

Great location. Interesting, quirky property. Roof terrace would be lovely at a warmer time of year. Breakfast including fresh fruit was really good value considering it was just a €2.50 add on. Friendly owner. We stayed in an economy room which just has a skylight window but we knew that in advance. Would like to have had a look a look at the other rooms all representing ex Portuguese colonies.

Ignore the fact that there is no internet and stay at this delightful cottage in beautiful Monsaraz. It is the perfect location - very quiet and has the luxury of car parking at the door. A beautiful bedroom with a super comfortable bed and quality bedding. We enjoyed the private terrace - which affords lovely views over the valley. The kitchen is equipped with all that we required and there was nice welcome gifts from the host. Everywhere spotlessly clean.

Great location and great hosts. Wonderful breakfast. Loved the system of having one area per room both at breakfast and around the pool. It is an extremely quiet place which we loved. If you are looking to rest you can't go wrong here.
