Casa Contrada Bella has been beautifully renovated, providing every modern comfort while retaining its historic character. It is very well located, being close to the main piazza of Varenna, but still quiet at night. The owner, Diana, is exceptional: incredibly kind, friendly, thoughtful and hospitable. She went to great lengths to make alternative arrangements for my departure from Varenna when the train line was suddenly closed due to a landslide, for which I am immensely grateful. I highly recommend this property and its outstanding host.

Right in the heart of Varenna and less than 10 min walk to the ferry, this room was quite large by European standards and had an adorable little balcony which Im sad I wasn't able to use more. The bathroom was also large, though the shower was a bit small. Closet space, shelves, and room to set things in the bathroom though made up for the small shower. Lake Como towns are all about stairs and cobblestones, so that can't be avoided, however the location of this spot is perfect-near food and drinks and a quick walk down to the water. There's even a 24h laundry facility next door that has vending machines with snacks, coffee, and some small basic travel supplies. There's also an adorable and sometimes talkative cat named Antony that you may see!

Bellano is a lovely small quieter town with ferry/road access to more popular towns Bellagio and Verenna.

We absolute loved the place and the area. Was easy to find and there was parking available. You do need to pay for it during day hours. This was not a problem for us as we were aware that the property does not have parking and we were lucky to get to park close by and walk/ferry everywhere. Varenna is a great little town and we can highly recommend visiting and staying at the Villa Toretta. Thanks for making our stay great!!!JacobusYoung couple
