Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CyprusThe people staying above us.made a lot of noise and the floors would creak and I could hear them.talking and moving things.
The location was excellent and close to all the main attractions of the old harbour. I loved being immersed in the historic Chania, and the building and rooms had a lovely nostalgic and family vibe.

CanadaThere was a strong smell of what it seems to us smell like cat urine. We addressed it and the host came immediately to try to fix the issue and they come back the day after but unfortunately the smell never left the room (bathroom). So we left the bathroom door closed and try to not go too often. We weren’t offered to change room, maybe it was fully booked, but we also didn’t ask for.
The location and the quick response from host.

SwedenThe stairs up to the room and the terrace were steep (but that's just how it is in an old house in the old town).
Very nice pension in a good location in the old town, close to everything but still on a calm street. We had a balcony with view over an alley, but it was also possible to use the roof terrace from where you had view over the town and also could see a glimpse of the old Venetian port. The room was equipped with a tiny hob and some basic utensils, so we could make breakfast.

SwedenEven though everything was super good, if I have to mention something as a feedback is that they could maybe renew towels and bedsheets. They are not bad or dirty but maybe just used many times. Still not a huge issue though!
Pension Eva is definitely what I was looking for my stay in Crete. Cosy, with a beautiful terrace and in the very best location! The staff was super kind and helpful! I would definitely choose this place again! We could hear everything from the other rooms and outside since the building is old but that was not a deal breaker for us at all! It had a charm to listen to people being happy and cheerful from the shops downstairs!

United KingdomI have to say the step down just inside the room!!! Unfortunately I didn't see it when I arrived as it was early evening when we arrived and a bit gloomy and I fell down and sprained my foot quite badly ☹️. But apparently this is the first time anyone has had a problem in all the years it's being let out, so obviously me being a bit clumsy!!! But everyone was very kind and forthcoming with offers of help and the advantage of being so close to the harbour meant I could hobble out while my foot was recovering!
The room was above a small shop on the old part of room very close to the harbour, so location was great and it was away from the busy bars and restaurants so peaceful at night. Being in an old building the room had a nice character. There was also a nice space on the roof (two floors up) where you could sit out and admire the views.

United KingdomForgot to ask about checkout, but left the keys in the room. You will stay in a lovely old style townhouse. Floors and stairs are wooden and stairs narrow. So if you have luggage be warned. Also if you are in a room looking on the street expect noise as you are in a much visited area, earplugs! I knew what to expect and it was fine.
Lovely setting in old town, big airy room, everything supplied for your stay. I loved the house, perfect little gem. Easy to get to from the bus station/airport, handy for sightseeing. I used the local buses and it was maybe 10mins walk to and from there with food shops etc on the square nearby.

Canadaonly that it’s difficult to get to (especially if carrying large luggage) and cars can’t get very close.
Set in the winding alleys of the old town, it was great to walk around at night and be in the middle of everything, while being quiet at night. it had a full kitchen and decor was charming.

AustriaYou can hear everything from the building (other rooms). This was not a problem for us to be honest. Only that one night we were in the terrace chilling and we moved one time our chairs and someone from other rooms came to us and said not to make any noise because he was trying to sleep. Just so you know, if you are on holiday and you choose a place where every noise can be heard, then do not expect from the others to stay quiet all the time. Everyone is on holiday and wants to talk, chill, rest and so on.
Everything was fine. The location was great, everything was clean and comfortable. The terrace has an amazing view.

Cyprus1. Squeaky beds 2. Bathroom water was going in the bedroom 3. We stayed there 3 nights nobody cleaned the room 4. Curtain wall brackets were not holding very well (building and walls are old) and when we tried to close the curtain the curtain rod fell on the bed where a small baby (1 years old) was sleeping. When we told it to the owner instead of asking how is the kid and if everyone was ok she started grumbling. I explained her that it was dangerous to put it back and she replied “It’s not the danger I am concerned about now, is how to give the room to the next guest”. She didn’t give a s*** about our health or the kid’s health. She was so rude. And after I left, I got a message from booking to pay for the “damage” that was done due to bad room conditions
Location was ok
