Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomLocated in the old town with a short walk to shops/restaurants/harbour and yet in a quiet area. Spacious and very clean room, comfortable bed and well furnished in truly Ottoman style. Great breakfast as well. Alexandra was a kind and very friendly host who took care of all our needs during our stay. Will be back again.

This was the most wonderful place to stay. We had such a beautiful and inspired experience staying at La Maison Ottoman. The room itself was wonderfully designed, and our hosts thought of every little touch. The included breakfast was amazing! Alex our wonderful chef and Andreas, the hotelier, were attentive to our needs and made our stay in Chania so special. The location is very close to the port and you’re really immersed in the old town. If you want a special experience in chania, this is your place!!

CanadaThis is a small, 3 room boutique hotel with a great location and congenial innkeepers. It was so quiet, despite being in the core of the old town. We very much enjoyed our breakfasts in the courtyard. We chose the room with a private patio and we really enjoyed relaxing (with the resident cat) in our Adirondack chairs in the evening. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. If you like small hotels, this is the one!

United States of AmericaCannot really think of anything!
Our stay at La Maison was outstanding! We decided to stay an extra day! Our Host Andrea was very kind as well as Alexandra! Our accommodations were very well designed and clean with premium bedding and very comfortable furniture. The breakfast exceeded our expectations. The assortment was highly suitable with many options for any diet ary concerns. The location was in a quiet safe area within a short distance to the port where all the restaurants and shoppes are. Would definitely return!

United States of AmericaThe only downside to our trip was trying to get into one of the recommended restaurants. We did not make reservations ahead of time and this was a mistake. I don't feel like we got the best dining experience we could have had in Chania. This had nothing to do with the hotel - just advice!
Our stay had the warm feeling you can only get when you stay with a friend at their home. We truly enjoyed the personal attention and help with every aspect of our stay and it is important to note how great the breakfast (and conversation with Alexandra!) I wish we had not been so busy during these days in Chania as it would have been nice to have slower days to enjoy the house as well as the neighborhood.

We stay at La Maison Ottomane every time we travel to Crete through Chania. It is a quiet oasis in the centre, five minutes walk from the waterfront. It is not cheap, but the setting, the wonderful breakfast and the friendly but discreet hosts make it worth every cent.

United States of AmericaIt was difficult find the hotel at first. Once we figured that out, it was quite easy. We ended up loving the quiet, hidden gem.
The property is hidden away in the back neighborhood away from the main walking area. It was quiet, quaint, and beautiful. Andreas and Alexandria made the trip memorable. So much attention to detail in the rooms, the courtyard, breakfast, and making sure that we felt completely comfortable. they also have us great guidance to restaurants. excursions, and what to see.

A hidden gem in Chania’s Old Town. What a superb find which exceeded our expectations in every way. Nothing was too much trouble for Alex. The breakfast was amazing, the bed was the comfiest we’ve ever slept in. Attention to detail in absolutely everything, from foreign charging adapters to embroidered linen, dressing gowns, mini fridge, very useful details on the local area and taxi booking. Alex went above and beyond, and allowed us to store our luggage on the last day after checkout. She kept in touch via WhatsApp and was just absolutely lovely. We were only there by chance, due to the cancellation of our flight, but will definitely be back. What wonderful hosts. If we could rate 6 stars, we would!

United KingdomNothing . Couldn’t fault it.
This is a real gem in the heart of Chania on the hill of Kastelli. This is the second time we have stayed there and we were delighted to be upgraded on arrival to the duplex suite. The decor is in the old Ottoman style, but all facilities are modern and up to date. Very comfortable bed with effective air conditioning upstairs and down. Superb shower with high pressure/flow rate. Fridge and Coffee machine in cupboard downstairs. The management are very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Great breakfast. Also there is private parking, very rare in central Chania. Very quiet location at end of cul-de-sac.
