Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomRooms are really basic - bed is hard, pillow was far to big and hard to use, so I used my sweatshirt as a pillow! Kitchen was poorly equipped, it didn’t even have a cup or mug to drink tea from. Balcony is shared, so there’s no privacy.
Location is fabulous, right in the centre of old town

HungaryThe wifi was terribly weak, for several days it was practically not functioning at all in our room.
The perfect location, the house, the room, the staff, they were very kind, relaxed and helpful (there were no glasses in the kitchenette of our room, and they immediately gave us as any as we liked, from the restaurant), the live authentical Greek music at the restaurant, the nice balcony where we could have breakfast very comfortably

South AfricaWas given a minute room without a balcony despite deliberately selecting room with balcony and despite my booking confirmation expressly stating this. Raised merry hell with owner who was uninterested. Fortunately on the instigation of the cleaner we were given a one-bed mezzanine room with balcony. But it had no kitchen and the mattresses were like bricks. Not ideal. Not much to recommend other than it being on the cheaper end of the budget spectrum.
Location was great. That's about it.

NetherlandsAll was good for us
Rustic rooms in the heart of Chania, if you are looking for authenticity this is where you should go. The rooms are just above a very nice taverna in one of the most central streets of the old town. The host is also in charge of the taverna, which is called Kali Kardia or good heart and the name means everything. We arrived late at night and the hosts waited for us and also fed us with an amazing meal at the tavern. Real Greek Xenia.

BulgariaThe only thing we had a little trouble with was the bathroom. It was very small and narrow, the water came out easily from the shower cubicle, without a window ... in short, it was not bad, but it was fine
I liked the room, super sunny and with a shared space or the balcony above. Really good in terms of quality and price

SingaporeFor the price, the room was rather basic. The double bed was two single beds put together. Most of the furnishing is quite old and rundown and it was difficult to open the doors to the balcony. The bathroom was very small and the curtains were also old and not super clean. The cupboard was also old and had an assortment of hangers, we didnt feel like putting any clothes in it. We reached Chania very early in the morning and the place was not open at all and there was no way to contact them. Went for breakfast and got back at 9.30am and it was opened and the person there allowed us to put our luggages. There's a restaurant on the bottom floor and we had to squeeze through their tables and guests to get into the accommodation. Can be a bit noisy at night, though the windows do help to muffle the sounds a bit.
The location was great, within the old town and walking distance to the attractions and restaurants. Also close to the central bus station.

Italy- Perhaps the private bathroom is a bit small, but that's OK. - Also, bear in mind that the AC sits in betweeen the two floors. So, since the beds are in the sleeping loft, and the cold air goes down, you have to crank the AC up to get the sleeping area cold.
- Awesome location. Right in the center of Chania. Incomparable. You go into the balcony, and you can see the movida just below your eyes, as the facility sits in an alley full of life. - Room curiously expands onto two floors, with the second one being a sleeping loft. It was really a nice surprise, and a thing that I have never seen before.

NetherlandsI was given a different room to the one I booked. According to my booking, my studio was supposed to be larger, have twin beds and, more importantly, a balcony. In the end I spent most of the days out and about so the lack of a balcony wasn't that troublesome but certainly a frustration of expectations. Also, the bathroom could use some mild renovation - just changing the shower curtains, which are old and stained, and installing a hook to hold the shower head would make a huge difference - and the mattress could be upgraded (the current one is not particularly comfortable). Towels were quite old too (sometimes ripped). For those who can only sleep in absolute silence (not my case), the constant noise of the street and music downstairs can be a dealbreaker.
The owner is super friendly and staff (particularly Sara) is really lovely. There is a traditional Greek music session every night and the location is unbeatable - you feel like a part of the city life after a few days. Having a small kitchen was very handy as well. Overall, it's quite good value for money.
