Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Charming..VERYclean!...lovely host Artimedis? (sorry for wrong name) This was an amazing find. There was anything you need and an amazing price. COMFORTABLE BED and sheets /pillows were the best..host came by to make sure we were happy...location good..not in too busy place. .3 min walk down quaint laneways to harbourfront ...Large rooftop terrace. .will definitely return...Came in April so not too busy but most was open

Ground floor room is beside the front door of the accommodation, which can be bothersome when there are noisy guests coming in late at night.

No breakfast.
Excellent location, very nice, bright, clean room that had all the modern comforts, yet had warmth and charm in its design and decor. Everything worked well for us. Manager was very responsive and also gifted us a bottle of wine to help us celebrate a very special occasion. That was a surprise we received upon arrival to our room, and provided a lovely start to our holiday in Chania.

Nothing. Can’t fault it. At all.
Everything. The rooms were stunning we had a two bedroom suite and it was absolutely gorgeous. The whole place just oozes class and quality and you can tell it’s been restored, designed, furnished and dedicated to an extremely high standard. Rooms have been placed out for the guests with care and fabulous attention to detail and love. Whoever is responsible for all of these things has done it with pride and love. Perfect location for all of the sights of the town, but down a side street so away from any potential hustle and bustle.

No lift/elevator. Wasn’t a big deal for us, but could be an issue for others.
Location is perfect. The rooms are cute and clean. Checking in and out was super easy. We appreciated them offering a baby bed. Would gladly stay here again!

Location was perfect. It was nice and quiet at night. The rooms were very clean. We liked having a refrigerator in the room and a Nespresso machine to make coffee each morning.

It is very difficult to find a parking spot close by. We would not recommend to use the suggested parking garage, since it is extremely expensive (3€ per hour) and still quite far to walk. We found a free public parking lot along the promenade next to some construction sights, where we always found a spot. It was a walk of about 10 minutes, though.
The accommodation is in a very good location. The receptionist was extremely helpful and friendly and gave us a warm welcome in Chania. Beautiful combination of traditional and modern design. We appreciated, that our room got serviced every day. We also had a small cat visitor, who brightened our mornings and evenings.

The location was perfect! It was quiet yet extremely close to the port area with restaurants and shops. We had a junior suite with balcony. It was lovely. Comfortable beds. Maria was extremely friendly and helpful. She took her time to talk to us and helped us with places to explore and parking. Property owners were quick to respond to questions. They gave us great advice regarding parking - we parked in the underground parking of a grocery store and then it was about a 4–5-minute walk. The parking garage closed at midnight and reopened at 7:00am. A few more hooks to hang towels, wet coats (we had heavy rain while there) would be nice. If I am back in Chania I will definitely stay at Aoria Estate again!

It was on the ground floor and had a small featureless courtyard/outside space; I would stay here again but would select a room with a view/balcony.
Modern but with a nod to the past, retaining some of it’s historical features. Maria the receptionist was most helpful and friendly.

The parkade close by was expensive. Hard to find free parking.

The main light was out but there were enough other lights that it wasn’t a big issue. Pillows could have been better
Looks exactly like the pictures. Great location in the middle of the old town and convenient if getting the coach to elsewhere on the island. Comfy bed and new tv with Netflix etc

Soundproofing wasn’t great. We were on the ground floor and could hear every time someone walked in and out which made sleeping a bit difficult on some nights.
Really nice accommodation in the centre of Chania old town. Comfortable, relaxing and spacious.

Everything was great!
The location is perfect for a little break from the busiest parts of Chania and totally within reach. We absolutely loved our time in Chania and it was in large part due to the wonderful Maria who is one of our favorite people we met over two weeks. Maria, you are so sweet and lovely! Thank you!
