We loved it that it was a traditional Japanese house with tatami floors and sliding doors. Sleeping on a futon really added to the experience and made it super special. It was very quiet and in a beautiful neighborhood without all the tourist crowds, yet the city was easily accessible from there. What really made us feel like coming back if we are ever in Kyoto again was the owner. He was so friendly and accommodating. He truly cares about his guests and it made us feel at home.

This was a clean, modern hotel in an ideal location (for us) in Kyoto. The room was exceptionally comfortable and well-appointed, and the hotel was walking distance to metro and train stations and bus stops, Gion, and downtown Kyoto restaurants and shopping. One of the top two hotels we stayed at in Japan, and probably the best value for money. The free evening reception (wine/beer and snacks) was a nice element as well. Staff was very helpful.

Don’t be fooled by the 3 star grading. It’s far better than many four or even five stars that I have stayed in big cities in Japan. It’s spacious, tastefully designed, sparkling clean and quiet. Its staff is efficient and helpful. All these locate in a central place of main tourism attractions of Kyoto, many of them are with walking distance. No breakfast is provided, but, with the Familymart two minutes away you get everything you need.

The location was perfect as it was walking distance to Kyoto Station. All staff members were helpful and nice. Great selection in toiletries from hair elastics, tooth brushes and tooth paste, wash cloths, Q Tips, brushes, cotton etc. Umbrellas available upon request at reception for rainy days. Decent size buffet in the morning with a mix of Japanese and Western food items.

Feels very authentic. the property is very clean and well-maintained with love. Easily reachable and with good connections per bus or train. In the heart of Kyoto. the staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful and they guide you through your experience of a more traditional Japanese stay. As a tourist it was important for us: English can easily be used to communicate

Hotel is a 3 minute walk from Kyoto Station. So it was easy to take a bus or train to anywhere. My mom and aunts loved that there are 2 malls nearby (Avanti and Aeon). Rooms were cleaned daily. and we were able to request extra pillows. There's a 7-eleven in the building so we never got hungry. Airport limo bus stops in front of Avanti so it was really convenient.

This hotel is located inside Kyoto station, hence the word KINTETSU. We made the mistake of walking towards another MIYAKO Hotel which is across the street from the Station. Regardless, our room faces the Shinkansen tracks at the very end and was really awesome seeing the Shinkansen pulling in and out without any noises. Highly recommend this hotel.

The room is spacious and big (compared to must Japan Hotels) therefore comfortable for families. Although there are laundry machines available at the base floor, our room had its own laundry machine which turned out very helpful. Beautiful cherry tree outside the hotel. Nara metro line within 6min walk and Kyoto Station within 15min walk.

A beautiful hotel! The room was also a really nice size after the shoeboxes in Tokyo. Hotel staff were lovely, lobby always smelled of incense. It was also a very good location for us, train from Kyoto station and then a 10 min walk, but then you're in a good spot for getting around the city and are not far from Gion.

Great location right beside the metro and just a 10 minute walk to Kyoto station. The buffet breakfast was excellent value and very nice ( - just be sure to book in) The complimentary drink each night was nice too. Our room was small but very comfortable and clean. Hotel is close to several convenience stores.

Absolutely everything!!! This was by far the best hotel we stayed at in all of Japan (from Tokyo, to Osaka, and Kyoto). Extremely comfy bed, futuristic facilities, stunning premises, fantastic location (in Gion district!), surrounded by the most incredible restaurants (built into people's homes!)

Very well located next to Kyoto Station (main transport hub), nice area of city with lots of places to shop and eat, and convenient to take underground, trains, or buses to major sites. Hotel offers two types of breakfast, Japanese or Western. The Japanese breakfast is definitely best in my opinion.

Such a cool feeling being in an old kyoto street, felt like being in real Japan. Nearby Sanjo market, close to Nijo castle which is so fabulous. Also walking distance 10+ minutes from Nijo JR station (but of a hike). Staff are amazing and good mix of nationalities and personalities. Just a fun place.

Thank you so much for the nice stay. The room was very spacious and well equipped. The bed was very comfortable. All the space was clean and furnished really well. Hotel is near train station and bus stop. We can honestly recommend Minn Gion and I’m sure we will reserve room the next time in Kyoto.

There were lots of efforts put into all the details but my family were mostly impressed with the breakfast. All the ingredients were from local vendors and most seasonal produce were used. Will definitely recommend Rhinga Gran Hotel to our friends and family for their trip to Kyoto.

I enjoyed my stay in Hennan Hotel in Kyoto !! It was super clean and it has a super nice convenient location to the JR Kyoto station. You can also walk to Gion district in 30 minutes. I will definitely come back to Kyoto and to this hotel. Additionally the breakfast was amazing!!!

Location is perfect for traveling around Kyoto. Short walk to the Hotel after a long day of exploring the city. Breakfasts were excellent. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom was well equipped, clean, and not too small. Staff was courteous. Left luggage service was available.

All the Staff we encountered were lovely & very helpful. Hotel extremely close & convenient to Kyoto station & 7-11 for snacks & breakfast. Spotlessly clean. Stayed in the Pokémon room, which was a bit of a novelty for the kids & spacious

The location is excellent - very close to the station. The room was small, but normal for Japanese rooms. The bathroom was a marvel of efficiency. Most importantly to me, there was beside electricity. I had a problem with another property in Kyoto.

R Star Hostel Kyoto was really great. It has a great location, central to many things. It's not immiediately next to any main tourist spots but smack dab in the middle of everything. It was clean, the staff were nice and amenitites were good.
