The remote location, right in the heart of Serra da Estrela is amazing. The design of the hotel is cosy and warm. The 2 common rooms with the fireplaces allow you to relax and enjoy the moment. The limited number of rooms and architecture of the space allows the guests to feel a sense of privacy at every moment of their stay. Highly recommended the spa treatments. Remote location + massage = happiness Don't forget to try the indoor pool. Nor the shorter or longer nature trails. The views are breathtaking!

Our host Else, was very warm and kind with suggestions of sights and itineraries that we might like to see. She was very attentive to make sure we knew where walking paths started and described the route, phoned to make reservations for dinner etc - couldn't have been kinder!

It was a pleasant stay, there was a good jacuzzi outside, an indoor pool, sauna, gym etc, and a beautiful view from our window. Good buffet breakfast as well. Couldn’t recommend it enough. The therapists are very good :D we stayed during Carnaval and there were a lot of activities for kids in the evening/night.

Amelia was a very generous, informative and friendly host and shared her ancestral home with guests in a very open-hearted and generous way. The breakfast room and spread was incredible as was the free drinks and tea cakes that Amelia provided to guests throughout the day. The common spaces to relax were beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The locztion is very central to the town and for a base for hiking. We would definitely come again!

The view is stunning, the room is spacious, the balcony offered a beautiful view on the valley, the food incl breakfast and dinner were delicious, the massage was sooo relaxing and professionally made...the staff working in reception, SPA, waiters or waitresses, cleaners were all very polite, warm and welcoming too. And thank you also to the very friendly guy who took us twice hiking in the surroundings of the second Burrel hotel, he is mega friendly, knowledgeable and passionate of nature!LaurieYoung couple
