Residence Kastanienbaum is a spacious one bedroom flat in a quiet neighbourhood ten minutes by car/bus from Lucerne. Both the bedroom and living room have a wonderful lake view (although we had pretty foggy weather all week). The kitchen is really well equipped and the welcome goodies are really tasty and much appreciated. There are two bathrooms: one with a bathtub, sink and washing machine/drier; the other with toilet, sink and shower. The extra bed in the living room was super comfortable as well. We stayed for a week in January and felt right at home. The Lucerne visitors card was very handy to take public transport to the shops and to visit Lucerne.

One of the best in terms of hospitality outside of the chain hotels I stayed in, was greet by name wherever you go. Facilities i.e Alpine pool, spa, gym, restaurant all was top notch. Only lacking is time, the resort is huge and do no justice if staying for the weekend.

The view from the room to the lake was amazing. The breakfast was really tasty with a great view and had a variety of choices. We also used the free spa which included sauna and other facilites. Lastly, we booked a fondue dinner at the huts/cabins and was a really nice experience, great service, food and views. Definitely recommend!VanesaYoung couple

There’s a very personal feel everywhere in the hotel - great fitness ans spa and fabulous breakfast too. Very professional and discreet service make this hotel to a perfect place to relax and feel good. The fondue-chinoise we enjoyed in their cosy and class restaurant was an event in itself. I would return to the Hermitage with pleasure, maybe in summer next time, to enjoy the lake.

I love the rooms (we stayed in both rooms for two and three). They were not spacious but larger than most of the places we've stayed. I really enjoyed the breakfast there. Good food and relaxing atmosphere. Plenty of bath/ shower rooms. It's a little away from the main train station, but there are a lot of buses coming like every 5 mins so I didn't feel like it was inconvenient.

The spa was crowded and only 2 saunas for 2 people were available. We only managed to get in 1 time in the space of 2 hours. The hotel is right next to the train station and at an easily walkable distance from the old town and famous bridges of Luzern. I could park my car in the courtyard, which was comfortable for a reasonable price. The restaurant had quite some vegetarian options, which was great for me, arriving late hungry. Also breakfast was very nice. Personnel was kind and helpful, also when I left stuff in my bathroom after checking out.AndySolo traveler
