ADLER Boutique Hotel, hotel in Murten

Housed in a historic building first mentioned in 1396, where such famous people as Casanova and Goethe once stayed, the Hotel Adler enjoys a central location in the Old Town of Murten.

We love this boutique hotel to pieces. It is not the first time we stayed here and it's definitely not gonna be the last. The staff is super-friendly and helpful. We had a big room overlooking the main pedestrian street. The room was clean, nicely decorated and quiet. The bed was very comfy. We appreciated the coffee and tea facilities in the room. We also appreciated a lot the bar on the ground floor that served very good beer and very good flammkuchen until relatively late. Parking is very easy to find if one follows the hotel instructions. We positively regretted that we only booked one night.

Hotel Schiff am See, hotel in Murten

Established in 1767, the family-run Hotel Schiff am See offers you a terrace right on the shore of Lake Murten and a garden restaurant. The Murten train station is a 10-minute walk away.

Quiet location right next to the lake. We had a great view onto the lake and the hill and overlooking old town. Our room had a wraparound balcony, which was very nice. Our dog was welcomed to the hotel and allowed into the hotel restaurant/breakfast room (we did pay 15CHF/day for her). The staff was very friendly and welcoming. They held onto our bags after checkout since our trains was not for a couple more hours.

It's a very attractive little lakeside town with a medieval centre, including intact and walkable fortification wall, and lots of nice places to eat. It is well-connected transport-wise for visits to nearby attractions like the roman ruins in Avenches or the (really well-worth visiting) 12th century abbey in Payerne. Lake boats ply daily (in summer) to Neuchatel.

    Cosy town.

Cosy town. Away from the hustle bustle of a larger tourist city. Offers all lakeside water sports and family friendly entertainment and restaurants. Driving to nearby tourist spots possible in an hour radius. Large picnic ground and beach volleyball possible

The hotel is cozy and warm. It is an older hotel (see my negative comments) but not old-fashioned. The location is stunning overlooking the lake, and it's right at the old town/historic centre that is anyhow "a must" to visit. The bed was very comfortable and also the pillows just right for us. We had the most amazing dinner in the restaurant - it was a bit pricey, but in the end, we can honestly say we felt it was completely worth it... absolutely delicious - and very attentive staff.

Great location and large, clean, beautifully furnished rooms above a restaurant right on the main street of town. It was not far from the train station which was also great since we were traveling by train to Murten and made excursions by train from there. Murten is a wonderful town to stay in with easy boat and train excursions from the town and very good restaurants in town. Murten was a great choice since it was close to Bern but without all the negatives of a larger city.

Although the hotel is at the very far eastern end of Murten, that just means a very pleasant 10-15 minute walk into the centre on the lakeshore promenade, so that was fine. Breakfast was entirely self-serve (in these covid-19 times) but well presented and fully adequate. It's a very quiet location. For travellers by car, there seemed adequate on-site parking which is certainly not always the case for hotels in the middle of Murten.

We have the most awful time at this hotel. The receptionist never left out the keys when we arrived late so we had no room for the night. I expect a full refund or I am going to trip advisor and i will also look for a charge back on my credit card. I had important meetings the following day and I could hardly stay awake. This was appalling and I will certainly be rating this hotel very poorly

The location in the very centre of the old town is convenient. All sights can be easily reached by foot. The same holds true also for the train station and boat pier, as well. But the very central location also means that in the room there is a lot of noise from the street. The room and the common areas were fairly clean. The bed was comfy. The hotel’s WiFi worked well.

Morat was busy and this was the last room available 24 hours before. I was pleasantly surprised, the room and bathroom were clean and spacious although fairly spartan. Breakfast was good and we were able to eat outside, enjoying the morning sun. The warning of the DJ playing until 1.30am did not materialise. We did not hear a thing in our room, perfect night's sleep.

The hotel is very well located in the middle of the town, amidst restaurants and shops, closeby the lake for a swim. The hotel room was recently renovated, the old hardwood floors are giving it a nice atmosphere but the facilities are new. The owners are very committed and gave helpful tips and their restaurant on the ground floor is great for a nice dinner!

Fantastic room, very western in the sense that the bathroom was huge and the mattress topper actually created a real king bed feel, versus just two twins shoved together. Private terrace was a huge plus for morning coffee. Great craft soaps/shampoo. I look forward to staying at the Adler again!

Stylish, comfortable, clean, spacious, quiet. One of the best places I've ever stayed. Loved the open shower and the feeling of being under the roof. Delicious breakfast and great location in the heart of Murten. Great value for the price. Totally recommended, especially for a romantic getaway ;)
