We were there for a sporting event.
We were there for a sporting event. Potchefstroom is a known student town with the North West University as a main economic attraction. Other events in the town include Aardklop arts festival, and various other farming events. Not a holiday town as far as I know

We unfortunately booked at Elgro Hotel and it was not at all a good choice, we then visited Elgro River Lodge (another in the chain) what we found was the best place to stay, albeit 25 mins out of Potchefstroom it was magic. Staff were just amazing and our experience will have me return to their if I ever get back to South Africa

Riverwalk mall and surrounding areas offer good eating places such as wimpy, Mug n Bean, Mike's Kitchen, Nandos, Chicken Licken etc. there is also a variety of accomodation places and meeting facilities. Google maps is of great help in getting around.
Best Rest Guest House is not a place to repeat, a change in the manner of speaking to guests by the manager is required.

What would I avoid in Potchefstroom? Paljas Guesthouse!
The hotel is absolutely beautiful, stylish, clean with amazing views. The staff are all fantastic; front of house restaurant manager Ria looked after us amazingly and so did the chef and all his team. The food in the restaurant is absolutely beautiful and is fantastic value for the quality. The hotel spa is also amazing - the treatments available are great and the staff are incredibly helpful. Chris from the hotel drove us wherever we needed to go - he was amazing. I couldn't recommend this place enough to stay its absolutely beautiful!
Erica and Brent make you feel like family has arrived. So personable, flexible - great communication and HELPFUL, with ANYTHING you might need!
So NOT MISS THE BREAKFAST. Being prepared by your host in the most quint dinning area, fresh tasting and plentiful!! One of my favorite things about visiting South Africa is the breakfast and Erica, our host did not disappoint- breakfast was AMAZING!!! Thank you!
As a born farm boy, the property kindled fond childhood memories of the sun rising, simply hearing nature, and seeing the sun rays playing on the dewdrops. The cabins are nicely decorated, clean, and functional. Definitely, I would rather stay at Caleb's cabins than hire a room at a city hotel. It is a great short-stay option in Potch.
What a precious find in Potchefstroom!
The ideal guest house if you are travelling with family or friends.
Friendly owner accommodated our late check-in.
Lovely rooms built around a beautiful inner garden area.
Exactly like the photographs posted.
Attention to small detail, like a USB charger, appreciated.
Everything. This place is a work of art. So much thought, love and dedicated hard work went into these cottages. The stay was amazing. The cottage is so private and I would never say I was so close to Johannesburg or Potchefstroom. We are already booking our next weekend there
The friendly and helpful hosts on our arrival👌👌

Clean and modern room, nice kitchen and I enjoyed the complimentary water (sparkling would have been excellent). Close to all areas and restaurants that we wanted to visit.
Older part of town but immaculately kept heritage house with rooms around the swimming pool. impeccable garden. Friendly staff. The BEST and tastiest breakfast of my trip.
