Sarah was an absolute life saver! She helped us find a rental car when none were available at the airport. On top of that, the place is fantastic. Great location, lovely home, hot tub is a delight.

A place combining plenty of history of different periods (we went on a fantastic trike trip (https://orkneytriketours.co.uk/) - great experience, visiting the Italian Chapel, standing stones and Scara Brae. The town itself has a 12-century cathedral, historical ruins, and museums, including the wireless communications museum, which was created and is being run by enthusiasts. There are also different daily art groups at Gallery 25 (https://www.facebook.com/Number25Kirkwall/?locale=en_GB) which we enjoyed joining. And the local English is very melodic - it is a pleasure listening to it! I can't say we discovered the fantastic seafood, but there is a lovely shop, The Brig Larder (https://www.jollysoforkney.co.uk/pages/the-brig-larder, one can also order local delicacies to be delivered) - again with lovely staff and a good selection of locally sourced dairy, cheese, seafood and preserves.

Kirkwall is a beautiful little city.
Kirkwall is a beautiful little city. I came for the incredible Neolithic history and to search for family ties in the area. There are many jewelry shops as well as artists studios and tweed or wool shops. The museum is also fantastic. It’s a fibre artist’s dream.

I would not stay at this hotel again out of choice .
I would not stay at this hotel again out of choice . We visited a restaurant out of town for a meal and it was superb. I then read the reviews for this restaurant with rooms which was in a beautiful location with lovely views and they were excellent also far cheaper.
The restaurant was the Foveran and I would thoroughly recommend it.
Also visited the Italian chapel and the site of the discovery of a 3000 year old settlement both of which are a must to see.
I played golf at the Kirkwall golf club very friendly and welcoming although totally self booked with honesty box available .
The hosts had a welcome grocery pack, with milk and butter etc. I have to say that due to a ferry cancellation we had to get out of our original accommodation at the end of our stay. Donald and his wife were very helpful at arranging the let at their house. Being in the heart of Kirkwall it is handy for everything. We popped out for evening meals at local restaurants. This holiday let passes the test, we would stay again.
Breakfast was great. Location was coinvent to shopping and local restaurants. Parking was a little hard. Public car park nearby, but had to get free ticket every hour till 5PM, then free all night. Out the next morning. Small town and able to get our clothes washed in a nearby laundromat.
Debbie was very welcoming and accommodating when I arrived and the room was very clean and well equipped. The breakfast was good and there was a lot of options to choose from. Heatherlea is located very close to the centre of Kirkwall and is only a few minutes walk to the ferry terminals.
The room was bright and clean. The location was excellent - about a 6 minute walk to St Magnus Cathedral and the high street. The host was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was made to order and delicious. I would recommend Shorelands B&B to anyone planning to visit Kirkwall.
Staggering distance from Highland Park distillery. A warm welcome, clean and an interesting property with architecture, books and musical interest. Peaceful, and a modest walk into Kirkwall.
A great breakfast, delightfully presented.
Everything but the girl. Hey ho.
Location was the primary reason I booked this hotel, as we were coming off of the ferry late at night. Our room was ready for us, and everything was beautifully seamless! The night staff were so helpful - we were even able to do some laundry there.
Great guest house a short walk from downtown Kirkwall. This is an ideal base to see everything Mainland Orkney has to offer. We walked to Kirkwall and the Highland Park distillery from here. Breakfast was very good, and the rooms were comfortable.
In the apartments we had access to a fridge, sitting room, and a mini kitchen making it possible to cook in the room. The restaurant has great food, and the staff is friendly. The location is great, because it is very central.
Every thing was perfect at this hotel doing north coast 500 with a detour to Kirkwall out of our 11 night tour this was defiantly the best. The Host was very friendly and breakfast was also very good.
The Hotel is perfectly situated on the beachfront at Kirkwall. Breakfast was excellent! Huge full Scottish! The Ola also has a great bar which is usually full and vibrant at the weekend!
Friendly and helpful staff
Helpful staff for travel advice in quiet season
Large comfy rooms
Good hearty breakfast options
Central location
Hotel has a Ye Olde Worldy feel
Good evening meal and breakfast. Albeit it was a short walk to the Kirkwall sister hotel to have meals.
Good service from the staff at the Kirkwall Hotel also.
Breakfast was good, staff friendly and helpful, as was the owner Andy.
Location was perfect for walking into Kirkwall for dinner and for visiting the island.
The manager Mr.Nicky is a very very nice guy. The breakfast is good and the room is perfectly clean. This B&B is even much better than the hotels in Kirkwall.
