A great place to stop at for a few days if you're travelling round Abruzzo. The train ride from Rome was very easy, and we were able to visit Lago di Scanno and Scanno itself by bus. Sulmona itself has a fantastic historic town centre with lots of little streets to explore. We enjoyed some great food and the most memorable ice creams ... And of course, lots of confetti Pellini! We hope to come back again next year!

Very positive.
Very positive. Surprisingly large, pleasant old section of city with down-to-earth charm. Hardly any tourists - too bad because Sulmona has an excellent, first rate tourist office. Spectacular, snow-capped mountains. In the heart of little-visited Abruzzo where amazing medieval castles abound. Has a must-go to restaurant called Clemente. People friendly and welcoming. We went for family research and stayed for the pleasure of the town & region. Just be sure you don’t stay at the bed & breakfast place called Villa Del Poeta! :)

Sulmona is a smallish town with a medieval center.
Sulmona is a smallish town with a medieval center. It is a fantastic base from which to take day trips to any of 3 national parks, the Adriatic Sea, and museums galore. If you’re interested in getting off the beaten path but maintaining high-end comforts, Sulmona is ideal. Bonus: there are at least 2 restaurants in town that have earned Michelin nods and stars (Gino’s and Clemente).

Nice quaint Italian city on route through Abruzzi.
Nice quaint Italian city on route through Abruzzi. Piazza with aqueduct and views nice. Market day was fun. Mountain views with a gelato nice and can’t forget some sweet confetti. A few hours is enough on a drive through stop.
Stella CasaBono is the perfect place to stay in Sulmona. The location is ideal, on a quiet street yet, near all the area's attractions. The room we had was larger than expected with all the comforts of home. Roberto and Giuseppe were the BEST hosts, always willing to help at any time, day or night. We felt at home from the first moment we met Roberto as he greeted us outside and offered cappuccino before we even got our luggage in! Stella CasaBono is THE place to stay in Sulmona and if we go back, this is where we will stay.
We loved this place- from the lovely courtyard behind the large front doors, to our stunning room ( we had the ground floor) beautiful shower and most comfortable bed. The amazing roof top terrace where we had our very good breakfast. Marta the owner was lovely and helpful. Would definitely recommend this place and return the next time we are in Sulmona. The location was great and we parked for free a few minutes walk away. We stay in a lot of different hotels, but this one really surprised us in a good way!
Central. However station for Sulmona quite a walk from town. I noticed a little bus, so perhaps now this meets the trains…
However Roberto and Leonardo who run the hotel helped me enormously by collecting me from the station after I had been out with friends and dropping me off to catch the train to Rome. It is a delightful family hotel where nothing is too much trouble. I enjoyed talking with la mama too. Room was spacious and well appointed and a good breakfast served.
Linda was a friendly host and very energetic for an older woman and also very helpful with our local regional travel. The place was very clean and good value for money. Taxis were scarce so Linda drove us to the train as we left. Sulmona is a quaint old place with narrow streets but the locals were out in force at the cafes and bars. The scenic drive to Cansano on a narrow winding road was another highlight..
Spic and span, nice-size rooms w/good showers, excellent WiFi connectivity, a quick drive into Sulmona, had the place to ourselves. Breakfast appeared like magic each morning (we never saw the host after check-in) - each item was contained in a separate plastic container - meat, cheese, fruit, bread, cookies.
Absolutely loved this bb&b. A great welcome. The room was large and beautiful. The whole building was lovely and spotless. It's right in the square and breakfast was served on the roof terrace, which was lovely. Best eggs I've had in Italy. Great restaurants all around. We will go back.
The apartment is in a lovely location and overlooking the park. It is well equipped and done in a modern style, which is nice. Sulmona is a beautiful historic town that is quiet but not too quiet. We are definitely going back again. Everyone we met was so friendly and helpful.
The apartment was beautiful, located in the middle of the Centro storico of Sulmona. Sulmona is a fantastic central location for day trips throughout the province of L’Aquilla. Raffaele was a fantastic communicator. he checked on us and helped us find some wonderful restaurants.
Antonio was very friendly and obliging, and went out of his way to help us. The apartment was very close to the old town centre, and we loved Sulmona. The nearby little village of Picantro is also very worthy of a visit, either on foot or by bus.
The owners were very accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble. The apartment is in a great position in the centre of Sulmona near all the sites, bars, and cafés. I highly recommend staying here. Grazia Gianni
All four of us ranked B&B Capograssi one of the very best places we have stayed when traveling. The location is handy to the center of Sulmona while being far enough away to be quiet. And Dante is a great host.
Very cozy hotel, which is located in an old tower, it is very beautiful and clean, Silvio is a very nice person, he prepared a wonderful breakfast for us! We will definitely return to this wonderful place!
Beautiful family palazzo filled with antique furnishings and art. Private, spacious and comfortable quarters. The home-cooked breakfast was superb and the coffee (lots of it) was excellent.
The space is beautiful, the location is perfect and breakfast on the rooftop terrace was delicious! Marta who runs the in is so kind and helpful. Don’t hesitate to book here.
Extremely friendly staff. Helpfullness at the reception desk, when asking for excursions. Possibility to park the car at no cost at their second hotel in Sulmona town.
