A location at the sea with beautiful view. The hospitality is great, staff very friendly. A nice feature is that you get to choose your own yukata. One person in particular, had lived 16 years in Spain, helped is with his English skills and gave us great service. The room was pleasant, the futons comfortable. We had a private bath on the inner waranda. Dinner was exceptional, a real wow factor. Same for breakfast, amazing.
Friendly welcome by owners, loved our Ryokan room. Bath Onsen was nice and hot
Fantastic breakfast (including sashimi and tempura), very nice hot spring (onsen), central location and great service. I’d book this hotel again.
The entrance to the metro & underground food, restaurant & shopping area is across the street, so very convenient. The spa hot spring 'onsen' bath (Not included in room price) has also a steamroom: it looks modern, well maintained and although not that large, it is very nice.
The private onsen, the futon beds, the space in the tradition room the view from room
I loved the friendly family greeting as I arrived after a very long day of touring Sendai and Matsushima. The place was exactly as advertised...a traditional Japanese Inn which is what I expected. A large tatami room, slightly dated, but with everything I needed for a comfortable night's stay and great value for money, even adding the taxi fare from the port. Hot water instantly in the in-room tub and very clean. It is ten minutes walk to Matsushima Station, but further from the main tourist activity near Matsushima Kaigan Station.
It was a perfect day in October to be staying at this lovely ryokan. The atmosphere was nostalgic, the baths were simple yet relaxing (and tattoo friendly!), and waking up to the morning sun on the futon was delightful. The hosts were very kind, and they seemed to really love running this place. I had a full spread of japanese breakfast and it was a great start to my day.
The hosts were very open and welcoming. The futon was comfortable and the Japanese-style room was spacious. We loved the onsen. As we were looking for a place without included meals in the Matsushima area, this was the perfect choice for us. The interior is old but charming and needs some restoration as you can clearly see the effect of previous earthquakes. We would love to see it in a recovered, thriving state in the future and would like to come back.
Comfy rooms, fresh sheets, yukata. Tatami mats are clean and comfy. Friendly couple and cute dogs!! We felt very welcome. Please use „Takagimachi“ if you come by train and have luggage, better streets/concrete and space on the sidewalk. Best thing: tattoo-friendly Onsen on 3rd floor!!!
