They even loaned us umbrellas due to the rain. If you're on a budget but want to go to Kinosakionsen town and have a nice stay you can't do much better than this

From its hilltop location a 15-minute walk from Kobe Electric Railway Arima Onsen Station, it offers sweeping views of Arima Onsen. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. The hotel was spotless and with a premium feel. Yukatas have been included with all the necessary toiletries, and the open air bath was spot on. Also free reservations of the hotel's private baths are available, even if you have a bath in your room. Some drinks were provided free of charge (coffee, tea, beers, juice, etc...), and a platter of fruits, too (seasonal). We had western style beds, but we opted to sleep on tatami beds, it was an interesting experience. They offer free shuttle service both to the train station and to reataurants, which is very welcome given the location on the hill.

Free-use bicycles are provided. Everything about the stay was perfect. From the reception to our room attendant - everyone was overly polite and kind. The room was amazing (with private onsen) - very spacious, traditional style and an amazing view. The private onsen experience is well worth the money and I can only recommend it. Kaiseki dinner was private in our room - the food was fresh, interesting and tasty. Breakfast was a buffet, there was both japanese and western style breakfast - both were delicious. Overall, visiting an onsen town and trying traditional kaiseki dinner is an amazing experience that everyone visiting Japan has to experience and the Nishimuraya Hotel in Kinosaki onsen is a great place to do that.

Guests at Onishiya Suisyouen Ryokan can experience a traditional Japanese room with futon beds and tatami (woven-straw) flooring, or enjoy a Western-style room. Japanese-style rooms include a tea maker, private bathroom and a satellite TV. All rooms have air conditioning. It was clean, great onsen, nice, spacious room. It was not located in the city center, but it was around 8 min walk to the center, so that was not a problem at all. Shuttle bus was offered every time from/to the city, but the walk is so short we just did not ask for it. Everything was just perfect, would deffinitely recommend it.

The rental yukatas and hantens were the most stylish and unique compared to what guests at other ryokans were wearing. Location is excellent, close to train station and main street and onsens. Staff gave us an onsen pass for the 7 onsens in town. We also got a private booking at the bath in house. Staff provided an orientation to town and also provided excellent hospitality, including amazing food service. Rooms were traditional and a little old but comfortable and the bathroom had a Toto.
I think we were given a free upgrade, the room is very big and spacious. We love everything in this ryokan especially the onsen. Yukata were provided, even the skincare provided were branded, Kose. Shuttle bus was provided in and out from the ryokan to bus station or train station. Staff were great and the whole environment was serene. A great place to rest and relax and recharge. Awesome stay, great job!!!
While not a typical ryokan, the location and price are very nice for Kinosaki. The room is very barebones, but the bed itself is comfy. The staff is very friendly and the breakfast is nice. The room is quiet, and tucked away from the cafe / street below. You can rent a yukata for free, and they supply you with a rental towel and hand towel for the onsens. If you are planning on just going to any number of the seven public onsens, this is an affordable choice,
The Japanese style room was spacious and well equipped. The check-in was super easy, and the staff were informative and friendly. The location is in the heart of Arima Onsen. Dressed in your yukata, winter jacket, and clogs (graciously supplied by the hotel), you are a few steps away from the well-known Kin no Yu Onsen and foot bath. The futons were super comfortable, too, giving you a restful nights sleep.
10 min walk from the station, this is a fabulous ryokan. The staff is really nice and accommodating, and the room is very traditional but still functional. There is a yukata and wooden shoes if you want to try them. The private baths are definitely a must, and the onsen pass provided by the staff is perfect to visit the 7 onsens of the town. You'll get a really copious japanese style breakfast and dinner.
Beautiful home and such friendly staff! Slept in a shared tatami room, but each individual space is divided by a wood divider with lots of space for each visitor. Comfortable futon and cozy space. Appreciated the host taking the time to welcome me and explain how kinosaki onsen works.
Very beautiful room in Japanese style with lots of visually appealing details. Friendly and professionally run. Possibility to book private onsen. Beautiful yukatas (kimono-style bathrobes) were provided to wear while walking to all the different onsen (hot springs) in town, which was a lot of fun.
It was a traditional ryokan house and we were greeted with a tea ceremony, which we loved. Our room was massive and sleeping on the floor was surprisingly comfortable. They also have two onsens (one outside, one cave) that can be used privately during the week. On weekends they are open to everyone and split by gender. The host was amazing and extremely nice, taking a million pictures of us throughout the city and in the yukatas provided. We also received a typical japanese breakfast.
Our first stay in Japanese ryokan was a great expirience. Wood, tatami, futons, japanese garden, free yukatas, beautiful pottery made by famous Kyoto artist. Separated large bathtub and shower. Free tickets to Gin and Kin onsens! Arima is a very beautiful place!
