Oyado Koto No Yume ligt op slechts 2 minuten wandelen van het Station Takayama en biedt kamers in Japanse stijl met een kleurrijk tintje. The staffs were incredibly helpful with everything. The hotel is close to the city center and the old town, so we can easily walk to all the major attractions. The selection of yukata that the hotel provide makes for the awesome experience of walking around the old town. Each room is spacious with a modern touch, so it does not feel too traditional. Overall amazing experience.

The staff were fantastic and the food amazing not to mention the picturesque area. Would definitely recommend making the trip out there to stay in those amazing houses.

Mozumo ligt in een rustige omgeving in Gifu, op 52 minuten rijden van het JR Takayama Station. Het beschikt over een warmwaterbronbad en kamers met een modern Japans interieur. Lovely all the way through, the dinner set was the highlight and the staff extreme helpfull. Excelent for those who want a first experience with a Ryokan.

Yatsusankan biedt traditionele accommodatie in Japanse stijl met ruime publieke baden, op 6 minuten lopen van het JR-treinstation Hidafurukawa. I came here for my birthday. Unfortunately we didn't get there until late around 8pm, due to trains and train problems: they leave Nagoya every 2 hours and ours was delayed (so give yourself time to get there at a reasonable time) {I phoned them to let them know we would be late},you will also need to take a local train from Takayama. It was raining and we were cold and tired. Since we were late I wasn't sure if we would get supper even though I had paid for it. But thankfully we did and the food was excellent! Very fancy! We ate in a private dinning room looking out on to a garden. Our room was excellent! It was quite big for Japan. There was tatami mats, interesting monkey scroll in the alcove, interesting classy furnishings even the bathroom sink was beautiful. The hot springs/ baths were very good , I enjoyed the outdoor ones which had beautiful gardens. I loved wandering the halls of this ryokan lots of traditional architecture and art work (a beautiful folding screen). You really can feel the history of this hotel.

Het Sumiyoshi Ryokan ligt op slechts 1 minuut lopen van de populaire Miyagawa-ochtendmarkt midden in Takayama en biedt huiselijke accommodatie in Japanse stijl in een historisch herenhuis. The place itself is a beautiful and well-maintained traditional home. The family hosting us were gracious, friendly, helpful and kind. Always smiling. We enjoyed two delicious included meals per day: Breakfast and dinner. The traditional meals were more like gourmet feasts featuring interesting local foods. The many little dishes were intricately prepared with stunning presentation. We also really enjoyed the experience of sleeping in a traditional room with a tatami mat floor. Very cosy! We'll be dreaming of our stay here for years to come and hope to visit again one day.
