A mediaeval building overlooking River Isarco in the centre of Chiusa, family-run Walther von der Vogelweide offers alpine-style rooms and a restaurant with vaulted ceilings. The Walther Hotel is much better than its category, which is why we choose it for the second time. In the superior double room is the bed is huge and very comfortable, the bed linen is so soft and excellent quality, like in a five-star hotel. The bathroom is spacious and brilliant with the white mosaic tiles, and equipped with Simplehuman sensor magnifying mirror. The breakfast is first class.

Paulo has to be the best hotel manager, greets you as if you saw him yesterday and nothing is too much trouble. Stayed at On the Rock a few times, and still it has to go down as one of our favourite places to stay. They've just got all the details right down to a tee. We stayed in the Junior Suite this time round - which was a super large room with great views. Breakfast is great; a continental offering with fresh pastries and daily fruit. The hotel is tucked away off the main street but pretty central to Arco with walking distance to lots of restaurants, bars and shops.
