What an absolute gem of a place. From location to hosts to the house itself - a treat from start to finish. You're nestled amongst ancient vineyards and terraces with the most epic views. The hosts are incredible and so welcoming - they recommended the BEST little wine bar up the street for one of our dinners, and even gave us the number to the most amazing taxi driver (Antonio). CANNOT WAIT to stay here again.

The place is beautiful and comfortable. We loved having an entire apartment, and especially the beautiful terrace. The proprietors are very nice and helpful, and gave us good tips on things to do. The grounds are awesome, even though it was tough for us to walk into town.

Incredible locations in the wine yards and quiet with a beautiful view. The people have been super nice and amazing with kids. The restaurant served very good food. Great place to take a rest. We hope to come back!

Casa dos Varais is a family home dating from the 18 hundreds. which is open for guests. it is a special place which keeps traditions and beauty alive for its guests. The family runs the estate with its vineyard, orange trees and gardens. Guests have the opportunity to wander around, relax on the terrace overlooking the Douro valley, enjoying a glas of self produced wine or port and dive into a long passed time when taking part in the evening dinner. Definitely do not miss that dinner: It is home cooked, all guests come together around a big table in the old dinning room and the traditional French service is applied. Of course the dinner is accompanied by wines from the estate. A very special thank you to the lovely staff, who performs this service a an art! It is outstanding. I wish the estate with its owners and staff countless successful years, thank you for opening your house to us travelers.
