The room was bright and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful, when we asked about dining out or finding a laundromat. The full English breakfast was piping hot and delicious . There was also cereal and fruit on the side and lots of hot coffee, tea or cold beverages. We sat in the breakfast room and watched the boats go by. we also enjoyed the pub right downstairs for food and drinks.

Absolutely excellent location, perfect room with a view of the Abbey remains - the room could not have been better. With a brilliant classic movie theme, luxury bedding and furnishings you could not ask for a better location of room. Everything about Whale BoneArch (formerly Melrose Guest House) is fantastic. Their correpondense and info folder, the free parking setup and easy access/check-in. All so smooth. The rooms are beautiful, clean and well provided. Welcome water, biscuits and milk and the bed was so comfy we needed an alarm to get us up. The location is great, just a steady 8 minute walk either down the sea front or Upgang Lane depending on what part of Whitby center you want to be at. Will definitely revisit and recommend.

The hosts Paul & Sharon could not do enough to ensure that our stay was special. Their breakfasts were delivered to our room on time and were full and varied. The rooms were very comfortable, well equipped and very clean. The hotel situation was ideal for the beach (at the end of the road) and within a fifteen minute walk or four minute drive from the town centre.
