The location of this property in the Mouraria can't be beat. Only steps from the funicular to the Miradouro da Graça [Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen] and short walk to Miradouro da Senhora do Monte. The apartment was spacious and quiet with windows facing a small courtyard.

It is at the top of a very long high hilly street which was full of young men hanging around. Its not too far from the metro but would suggest better for younger people as if you are pulling a case Its a long way up.

There are 2 big windows but I felt you could not keep them open because there were people sitting in the square that could look in. No natural light in the bedroom.

You need to walk through a slightly sketchy park to get to the apartment. Our keypad didn’t work, which the host resolved quickly but unfortunately our neighbors didn’t have the same fate, as they kept us up all night pounding on the door. If you are planning on arriving late, use caution: the keypads don’t seem to work. Also if you need new towels (we had a shower incident and ours got soaked) they charge an absolutely outrageous 30€ to borrow two extra towels.

Vila Olarias was very clean and comfortable with modern and recently updated amenities. It had everything we needed for our stay and was in a nice central, walkable location in Lisbon. Our host was kind and quick to respond.

Despite being close to the city center location-wise, the neighborhood where it was located was a place where I would feel uneasy traveling alone. We had a bit of difficulty finding a large market nearby, there were only small grocery stores, and everything there was quite expensive. However, I would definitely recommend going there with a group of friends.

The cleanliness and the kindness of the staff were excellent. Everything was provided in the bathroom: soap, hair conditioner, shampoo, you name it. There was even a capsule coffee machine in the kitchen. We really loved it.

Hosts attitude was very bad. Booked for 3, but bed was made only for 2 (no bedlinen either). When I was calling the host, he was trying to convince me that I was making reservation for 2 only and was offered the 3rd bedlinen for extra charges. (What a behavior from a host is assuming the guest is stupid instead of trying to help.....) Luckily I had the cost-summary as a proof so he promised that we'll get the bed made asap. Guess what, no one came to help so we've slept in 1 bed under 1 blanket. Nice welcome..... After pestering the other host, she was helpful enough and managed to get the 3rd set of bed linen. (Thank you!) It's absolutely ok to make mistakes as we are humans, but as a guest my I expectation as a minimum: 1. evaluate the situation and try help not blame the customer, or even frighten with additional charges 2. if promise something (e.g. help asap) 3. in case of any discomfort caused by the host, I expect discount or refund (will flag this to Booking.com)

The only not-so-nice feature was the on-the-floor futon chairs. They may be nice for youngsters however, useless to a 65 year old couple like us. It was a chore getting up from them. The place deserves a small sofa with end tables.

Great location, just 500 yards from a metro station and surrounded by little restaurants and mini-markets. Our apartment was very nice equipped especially for our 2-week stay. Modern appliances (including washer & dryer, and a dishwasher. No microwave (?)).Plenty cooking utensils along with serving plates etc. Great bathroom, shower and it was all very clean.

No instructions on how to use appliances but eventually figured them out using Google. Also, I have lower back issues so the following two items may not bother some people: (1) Bed and pillows little uncomfortable. Bed was also very low to floor; it was hard on my back to make up; (2) Sofa cushions were very flat and uncomfortable to sit for longer periods of time.

Apartment was bright, spacious and clean. Location was close to metro, grocery store and restaurants. Keyless entry was also very convenient so you didn’t have to worry about keys/cards.

The throw blanket at the end of the bed had lots of stains. I folded it up and didn’t use it. I actually bought a small one yo use as I preferred not to put on heat. The kitchen was not fully equipped; no cutting board, no spatula and didn’t have a smaller fry pan. I was solo traveler and stayed in at this apartment two weeks. I had hoped to have prepared more meals. And just as a side as a solo female traveler I was not comfortable with the area at night. A lot of immigrate males very few females. I was assured the area is safe. And I had no issues but I rarely went out past 6-7pm

Minor repairs are needed. The towel holder was falling off the wall, neither of the soap dispensers was working, the shower drains slowly A little attention to these details is needed, but overall, the apartment is quite nice.

We had a little trouble finding the apartment because our taxi dropped us off in the wrong location. Our host was VERY helpful in getting us to the right place. There are three doors that each have a code and the first time it was a little confusing. Again, our host was very helpful. We needed the extra directions.

- groups of men ‘hanging around’ in the area around the apartment 3 out of 3 nights - when the automatic frontdoor lock didn’t open and we had to wait for a mechanic to fix it at midnight, we were told by the rental agent that we probably closed the door too firmly (which was not the case). Since the mechanic concluded the battery must have come loose. When we checked the lock afterwards, we saw this could happen when the lid isn’t completely clicked closed after changing the battery… We felt it was a bit rude to imply that we ourselves caused the problem.
