Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesVillas Flamingos is located almost at the very end of the string of hotels on the island. This means that it's very quiet, but also that you'll probably want to call a taxi to go into town (otherwise it's a 25-30 minute walk). Not a negative, but just something to know.
My friend and I were looking for a relaxing, upscale spot to stay on Isla Holbox, and Villas Flamingos definitely delivered! The rooms and facilities are really nice, but it's really the staff that makes Villas Flamingos so special. Nothing was too much to ask. The restaurant is also incredible; we figured we'd be going into town for most meals, but we ended up eating at least 2 (and sometimes) 3 meals a day at Mangle. The pools, sand, and beach chairs were well looked-after, too.

CanadaThe room need a bit more of night light. The bar beside the front desk doesn't go according to the size of the hotel, to small and just in the corridor to the access of the rooms.
Very friendly staff, food a bit on the expensive side but really good. It has access to the nicest beach in Holbox, you can walk to Punta Mosquito. Our room was spacious and comfortable.

MexicoIn general, the staff wasn’t really welcoming. As we asked for simple things, like that our water cups be changed after a few days in, they treated it as a “favor” for us. Given the cost of the hotel, one would have expected a more efficient (and kinder) service.
The hotel is located in the nicest beach area of Holbox — less crowded and less seaweed. The ground and pools are quite nice, but some maintenance would be welcome (tiles coming off the bottom of the pool, for example). The breakfast is very good.

United KingdomThere wasn’t a great vibe at night because the bar area is very small so you do need to leave the hotel to get any of that atmosphere. They put quite a big mark up on trips and excursions.
The locations was the perfect distance from town so it was exclusive but not miles away. It was so quiet and relaxing to be away from the crowds on the main beach. The architecture was insane, they did such a good job of making it feel like you were cosy but in the elements. Ivan from guest services was brilliant!!

United Kingdomlots of mosquitos , the roads around the hotel and in general could be improved, they have massive potholes filled with muddy water all the time... Not fun lol but we made it work with the bicycles. There's no tea bags in the room
Excellent staff, room with ocean view, food , customer service...we had bikes Included too! The place is mesmerising! The beach side is cleaned daily in the morning. It's very peaceful. .

BrazilWe had a serious problem with construction noise for two nights, even after notifying the hotel reception on the first night of the incident, the problem repeated itself once again. Manager Ivan was kind enough to understand the seriousness of the problem and managed to address it in the correct way, which completely changed our perception of the team's professionalism (initially affected by more than one warning about our problem without an immediate solution). We therefore treated this incident as something isolated, which did not affect our intention to evaluate this stay well. A valid point of improvement would be the speed of service from the waiters at the adult pools: they rarely showed up there and when they took orders they were slow to return (you can easily solve this by creating a WhatsApp for the waiters and giving the number to guests).
The hotel is relatively far from the center (~20 min walk), but its location is totally worth it when you take into account that it is in front of the beautiful Playa Holbox and that you can walk with water on your shins to Punta do Mosquito . Breakfast is a la carte without boring limitations with a wide variety of delicious dishes. It's a worthwhile stay!

United StatesOnly complaint was having to waive down the waiter while I was in the pool to come and take my order as he assisted people sitting right beside the pool area.
I loved the location, cleanliness and staff. I had an incident where I dropped my phone in the pool. I quickly went to the restaurant where a girl came out and helped me to download an app (high frequency sound) to help get the water out. I didn’t get her name but I was so thankful she took the time to help 🙏🏼 Ivan was my host and he was always available through What’s App. I’d also have to include how nice it was to be greeted each morning for breakfast by Daniella. She always had a smile on her face😁 All and all, the entire staff went above and beyond their job duties to make us feel welcome. I can’t wait to go back. Ps… room 14 had one of the BEST views!!

IrelandMore expensive than other hotels on the island. But worth it in my opinion.
Amazing stay. Room and beds were very clean and comfortable. Food was delicious. Many options to choose from. Breakfast really exceeded my expectations. Staff were very friendly and room service was very prompt everyday. Beach view was amazing. Water was crystal clear. Quiet at night as it was at the end of the hotel zone.

United KingdomWe could hear the occasional noise of the super turbo golf buggies that dash around the island when in the bedroom, but that stopped around 11pm. And the hotel is about a mile out from the main town - while this wouldn't usually be a problem, all the roads had flooded and become a slick of mud and water (a problem throughout Holbox), which meant you had to either wade through mud or wade through the sea (for a minute) if you wanted to get into town by walking. We visited during the rainy season - my sister who went when it was dry had no experience of the mud, so it depends on the time you visit. But again - you will most likely have the mud problem wherever you stay and it didn't affect us at all once we were in the hotel and its grounds
Villa Flamingos was a brilliant luxury hotel in Isla Holbox. It's one of the few that doesn't have a road running between the hotel and it's beach space, which gave it a sense of peace and quiet. We had a beach view room and there was a lovely balcony that had a daybed and chairs, perfect for chilling out. The beach space of the hotel is a little small but there are plenty of sun loungers dotted throughout the ground and access to the sea. Breakfast was absolutely excellent, there are smoothies, oat bowls, cooked options - it filled us up so much, we barely needed lunch

IrelandNot a problem with the hotel but the mosquitos. Also lots of other animals like scorpions and geckos were around the terrace of the room (Again not problem with the hotel it is a very natural environment). A gecko made its way into our room and we decided to live with it for the reminder of our stay since it is harmless. Just things to be aware. Hotel location is a bit towards the very end so a bit further away to cycle to center.
The room was amazing, bed was huge and comfy, the shower very stylish, decoration was stylish, it had great views. There is exceptional breakfast at the property. Had enough sun beds for everyone. Plenty of towels. The hotel gives free bikes so you can cycle to the center. It is very easy to walk from the hotel to the mosquito point since it is directly across the sandbank. The wi-fi was very reliable, reading other reviews I thought it wouldn't be good, was reliable even when it was pouring rain. They also have a concierge that you can chat through WhatsApp for information on tours and other things. All in all was a great hotel to enjoy Isla Holbox.

The location is excellent. A bit away from the main town, which is great because it’s a lot more calm and relaxing. The free bikes are a fantastic perk and allow you to explore the island at your leisure. The beach is incredible and the view from the room was beautiful. There is a private beach out front and free paddle board rentals to cruise the calm water. The free breakfast was delicious! Multiple courses, endless coffee, juices, and a la carte menu with tasty options. We were stuffed every morning.
