Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

MexicoWe kept bumping our heads on the hanging natural fiber lamp shades on either side of the bed. Other than that, I can't think of a thing.
Our stay in San Cristobal was magical, thanks in large part to the Taller de Juan and its wonderful staff. The hotel itself had a homey feel with the quirky art, the open-air garden seating and its fresh-air fragrance. The location was convenient to the historic town center. The cleanliness and "extra touches" like the half-moon cookies, complimentary tea and evening turn-down service were unexpected and much appreciated. Ximena, Rodrigo, Gleidy and the kitchen staff couldn't have been more accomodating, answering many questions and providing information on what to see and how to get there. We're looking forward to a return trip!

2. Mr &Mrs Smith: Set behind thick walls in the style of buildings in San Sebastián - ie non de script one story Mexican style. wondered how on earth Mr and Mrs smith could ever sanction such an institution.. but inside was this beautiful hotel arranged around lush courtyard. The rooms were opulent and very comfortable with a superb shower and vanity cabinet etc. the hotel staff were extremely helpful. Breakfast although extra was excellent. I have had the best coffee here .

United KingdomWe knew the room had windows on to the street as that was explained and we chose that over the room with the skylight but I suppose the main problem is the noise from the street and also there was a noise coming from the fridge area - we alerted the staff to this and they were going to investigate.
The location was wonderful and all the staff were amazing. We loved our delicious breakfasts - altogether an excellent hotel

MexicoThe staff and service at this small, lovely hotel went beyond expectations. They were always available to help, serve, or just chat. The turn-down service at night was unexpected but appreciated. They turned on the heater and left little cookies on our pillow. There is a wood fireplace in the lobby, and they always lit a fire in the evening for us.

BelgiumThe hotel is located in an area of San Juan de las Casas with a lot of traffic in the morning and evening and sometimes noisy neighbors. That can be fixed with the right choice of rooms and the hotel staff was very helpful in that respect (luckily we were there in low season). Surprisingly, many staff members don't understand even basic English, but that was easily fixed by other guests willing to translate or colleagues able to communicate in English.
This is a hotel with extreme attention to inspiring design and large, very comfortable rooms. Music in the rooms offered by personal pick-up and LPs, quite nice. No television, who needs it. The inner courtyard has several very nice spots to relax with a drink and nice snack food. Except for occasional street noise, this hotel is top.

MexicoOur room was facing reception, and so we were woken up once by staff who were switching posts. We would have also appreciated getting instructions on using the heating as we had to turn it off one night it was so hot!
The design and attention to detail is fabulous, there is not one choice of carpet/table/cutlery/welcome that is not tasteful. Obviously a lot of thought was put into it and it was gorgeous. The location is fantastic, just off the main road, you're near all the hustle and bustle, without being in it. We had a massage there and the two masseuses were really good (we'd had one the other day in another supposedly great place and it was awful). Every night we had the fire on and it was just blissful. Most of the staff were simply exceptional.

United KingdomThis is one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stayed at in my life. The attention to detail in every area of the hotel is absolutely stunning and the whole atmosphere is calm and soothing. Every single member of staff I interacted with was so friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The rooms are gorgeous and so is the breakfast with a lot of nice little touches. I will definitely be coming back.

Germanyrooms facing the street can get loud at night as they are not insulated enough to keep out the noise. you can also hear people having a conversation outside of the room or at the reception from the room.
Room was very clean and comfortable! Had a little turntable to play music on and, heating as it can get cold at night. the food at the restaurant was great. the staff were attentive and friendly.

United StatesNothing. If I had to call out one thing which is unrelated with the property really, is that before arrival they booked us a private tour of the Canon del Sumidero but last minute the agency cancelled on us. They scrambled to find us an alternative (which was great of them) but the one they found was just not private nor a very premium experience. They probably just need to work on their network of tour operators and that will be all. Understandable for a hotel that is only 1 month operating.
First, location: only 2 blocks from the pedestrian tourist street, and 1 block from great restaurants. Anywhere you want to go within town is no more than a 15 min walk. Second, design and maintenance/cleanliness: very cool place with spacious, tasteful and very pleasant rooms, a small but nice restaurant for breakfast, and a small and intimate outdoor seating area with a fireplace. Rooms was spotless every single day. Third, size of property (8 rooms) means staff knows your name and after 1 night they remember how you like your coffee. They are all super nice, willing to help and just naturally friendly. Fourth and last the place had a relaxing “oasis from the city” vibe that was perfect whether you are visiting SC just to be in town to eat and shop, or you decide to adventure further and into nature. There are no issues or problems to deal with in regards to your stay. Not something that can be said about most hotels in Mexico in general. Rates were way more reasonable than other high end alternatives in SC.

United StatesDespite the hotel being amazing - one of the best and coolest I've been to anywhere! - only a few rooms have some insulation from street noise. There is *A LOT* of noise from passing cars and motorbikes that can be very disturbing since many of the rooms border to the roads with passing traffic which is less than a meter from the windows . I had to wear earplugs in an attempt to block it out as it was too loud to sleep in. This noise was my only complaint, but it is pretty significant.
The design, fixtures/fittings, colours, textures, art and layout of the hotel and rooms is beautiful, calming, stylish and extremely well thought through. We stayed in 2 different rooms and both were excellent. Some of the best I've stayed in - this is definitely a huge draw for this hotel! And the food and service in the hotel is excellent too. I wish more hotels were like this!!
