It is a unique experience for a European traveller. It is an original, mid-priced Japanese hotel, as it is! Don't expect any Western amenities or luxuries. The whole thing is slightly out of date, yet very clean, the staff is super-kind and helpful, and location is spot on. All in all, it was something different for us and we liked it.

The hotel is a bit on the old style, the building is a bit dated. So I wouldn't choose this hotel if you want a modern environment.

Firstly, I would like to say that this hotel is in an amazing location right across the road from Dotonbori Bridge and the Canal. You can't be in a better location to be close to the action. It's about a 5 minute walk to the closest station or about 10 minutes to Namba Station which is an easier access train line. This is a traditional Japanese style hotel (ryokan) and some rooms have futon style beds on tatami mats. I was travelling with my Mom and a friend, we chose a 3 person room with private bathroom and we were lucky to have 2 single beds as my Mom wouldn't have been comfortable on a futon. My friend was fine in the tatami room and it gave us somewhere to chat and hang out later at night. They even have an onsen in the basement.

The shower was a bit odd, and there was a charge for everything including if you throw rubbish in the wrong bin in your room which is bit strange. As you walk in the room there is literally a contract on what is chargeable. Overall, not too bad but it is strange to see.

Location is fantastic, just minutes away from Dotonburi, and the actual ryokan is very clean, has many amenities as well as an authentic Japanese experience for the cost. They also provide Yukatas, and have your futon set up for you which is a big plus.

During cleaning, the hotel staff accidentally took my pajamas with the bedsheets. The reception wasn't helping me much with it, they made a couple of phone calls but that's it, and my pajamas are yet to be found. Tip: don't leave your pajamas on the futon beds because they might not look into it before taking it away for cleaning.

The location was good, the public bath was excellent, and the futon beds were very comfortable. It's a great place if you want to spend the day sightseeing in Osaka or nearby cities.

The staff are too nice and they even listened to hour difficult requests. Really really nice people. Rooms get cleaned daily. Also, the location of the place is really good. Their sauna on the 9th floor is amazing.

Shared facilities (lifts, corridors, etc) were quite dirty and need some maintenance.

Great experience staying in a traditional Japanese room. Right next to Dotonbori which is a PLUS! Nearest subway station is a 3min walk. Lots to do and see around the area. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Roof spa is extremely overpriced for what you get. They don't need to lower price, they need to offer more. Minimum a heated tub to soak in that fits 2 people should be added. Room isn't perfectly clean, hotel has a strage sewage smell. Outer windows need to be upgraded to block more noise, the hotel itself is quiet but double glazed glass would have made the experience far more enjoyable. Also there needs to be a bank of vending machines in lobby for drinks and snacks.

The room is moderately sized, not too small. I love the traditional vibe. My stay there was too short so I couldn’t fully enjoy the room. If I return to Osaka, I’ll definitely stay there again

I'm just not used to sleeping on futons but it was still comfortable. ^^

I really love the ryokan style accomodation. It was super cool to experience it. The facilities were great and the staff were super friendly. The location is super convenient to everything.

The hotel is abit dated. We also should have stated that some members of our group do not take beef so they can be better prepared in the meals.

There was a tea set in the room, but no coffee set-up.

The location was excellent! It is just off the main strip of Doutonbori - so it was an easy walk to all the shopping, entertainment, and restaurants. The breakfast was also really delicious and beautifully presented. The staff was very helpful, especially handling our luggage transfer and even printed some documents that we had forgotten to print. The room was traditional Japanese, but it had all the amenities that we needed. And, of course, the traditional robes were fun.
