Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaIt is challenging with the English language barrier. Make sure to opt for housekeeping so the staff comes in to tidy your room. The options were to clean your room or no cleaning at all with only leaving new linen at the door. This might help clarify any confusion that may arise. I misunderstood the question, and I thought they would be changing all the linen, so I actually wanted housekeeping to come in to tidy, not to change all the bed linen, but I accidentally opted for no housekeeping.
I loved staying at Suiun. The staff was attentive, and you felt like royalty when you were there. From the moment you entered the parking lot to leaving at the end of your stay, the staff was so attentive. Not only did they stand in the rain to greet us and hand us an umbrella and shelter us from the rain, but they also helped with our luggage and gave us tea and sweets on arrival while they helped us check-in. The stay was phenomenal. The staff answered your questions to the best of their ability. They always greeted you with a smile and ensured to help you in any way they could to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. They tried their best to speak English, and everything was excellent besides a misunderstanding regarding housekeeping on my part (I told them not to clean my room because I misunderstood the question - opt for housekeeping so they come in and tidy your room). The food was very delicious. I loved the variety of flavours they offered, It was also greatly appreciated that each meal was different daily. They also ensured that an English meal menu was provided with English instructions on how to cook each dish. They also have snacks and unlimited drinks that you can enjoy, as well as ramen from 2200-2230 each night. The room itself was spacious and clean, and the private in-room open-air bath was spacious enough to comfortably fit two adults. I also loved the 3 private hot springs they offered in their facility. You never felt crowded or rushed at all. I could not have asked for a better Ryokan during our stay in Hakone. Thank you for your hospitality and care, Suiun staff!

United States of AmericaIt was a nice room with a great private bath. Everyone was nice and friendly. We didn’t do the all inclusive meals and I really wish I had! The one dinner we had there was exceptional and the all inclusive price would have been a steal.

GermanyKaiseki dinner was quite tricky for me as I have some eating restrictions (no beans, no tofu). I would also appreciate to be able to choose meals each and every day. The way from the train station to the hotel is very steep which was challenging as we had four pieces of luggage. Upon check-out the hotel offered us a cab free of change which was very helpful.
Our apartment was really spacious and had a beautiful Japanese decor. The stay in this hotel gave us a chance to truely dive into Japanese tradition. It is a shoe-free hotel and there are many yukatas you can rent there for free. Do try them out! Soaking in a private outdoor bath in our apartment looking at the starry night was memorable. The view from the balcony was also great as it overlooked the garden and mountains. The staff was helpful and attentive. There was more than enough food for breakfast and dinner.

SwitzerlandWe chose the „western breakfast“. Many parts of it were not really western (e. g. chicken salad, shrimps, clam chowder, fish, pasta, ratatouille, dessert). Even though it‘s nice to have a big choice, it‘s unfortunate to see the food waste. It would be nicer to select what you‘d really like to have for breakfast and what not. However, the food was really good.
Very friendly staff, they explained everything very detailed. Nice private and public onsen. The hotel is very easy to reach from Gora station. Everything was clean and there were rooms where we could take water, beer and some little snacks for free.

SingaporeRamen bar timing was quite late into the night. It was a little hard to look for food options around the hotel as many stores close their shop early. But nonetheless, the hotel has a dinner service and free ramen bar service. Didn't like that the onsen water inside the room was too hot. It took quite a bit of time for the water to cool down.
Liked the additional dinner. The course meal was really delicious! Before my stay, the staff replied quickly to my queries over Booking.com. During our stay, the concierge staff has been attentive and polite. I felt like my stay at suiun has been the best embodiment of the Japanese hospitality. I was surprised that it was easy to enter the private onsen bath, and it was really easy to use the onsen bath inside the hotel room. Also enjoyed the late night Ramen supper!

United KingdomVery little english spoken .We didnt book half board but were told we didnt need to book dinner. Come 8pm and we go for dinner, they didnt have any space and any restaurant in town (not many) have last order at 8.30pm. The hotel didnt give any recommendation either nor helped us find a restaurant. So by the time they told us there was no space for dinner at the hotel restaurant and by the time we went outside…everything was closed. Bottom line: no matter what they say , book dinner.
Very cute and clean traditional hotel. Onsen is amazing with private & public ones as well as one in your room! It’s a fantastic local experience. Very comfortable and spacious rooms. Very close to the train station (although up a short but very steep road).

SingaporeWas uphill so not conducive for those with a large luggage. The place said we could ask for a ride to the station upon departure but only told us at the last min we would have to wait 10min, so I suggest to check in advance. We didn’t get their food as reviews weren’t positive, but there’s a lack of convenience stores and restaurants around so make sure you bring your own.
Quiet, has own in room onsen. Fresh clothes and room cleaning service provided daily. Bed was super comfortable and area was large with supper & drinks provided for free.

CanadaNothing - it was an amazing experience throughout.
The private hot springs bath within the room itself was phenomenal, the rooms were clean and you could tell there was lots of attention and care to small details in the room to ensure we were comfortable. There were free beverages and small snacks provided, and even choices of different types of pillows to use if you'd like to switch yours out to something else. Only a few minutes away from Gora station, and the garden at the entrance is beautiful and so calming! We had breakfast and dinner included in our stay - food was delicious and very true to the photos shown
