This ryokan is a wonderful place to stay and relax and have great meals.

The dinner and breakfast was exceptional. I was blown away by the presentation, the tastiness, and the thoughtfulness. We also reserved a private onsen which was very comfortable and the onsen portion was open to the fresh air.

An incredible stay at my first-ever Ryokan. I would definitely stay again.

+ There was nothing I disliked. I would stay here again.

+ Loved the room, which featured tatami flooring, amenities and the provision of a yukata, obi and hanten (which I wore at breakfast). + Excellent and friendly service by all the staff, some of whom speak good English. + Delicious dinner and breakfast. + A relaxing private onsen (very much worth the additional cost). + Location is somewhat further out, but it worked for me since it was a bus away from Gotemba Station (which I could use the Hakone Freepass for).

    Nothing.

I really liked the food, dinner and breakfast. The hotel can also be reached easily by public transport, since the bus stop ist in front of it. There is the chance to have a classic Japanese onsen and the room was clean.

Meals must to be booked ahead and there was zero flexibility to change anything on the spot. We only wanted to get less food for the kids (I had asked for regular size which turned out to be too much), but no chance to change this for the second night.

A true ryokan experience with the very spacious tatami rooms, relaxing onsen and the traditional japanese dinner and breakfast. Great base for hiking trips.

Enjoyable stay in nature with natural volcanic spring onsen and lavish dinner

The location is quite far from the Odawara train station where the Shinkansen stops. It took an hour on the bus to get to the ryokan. Touristy area, expect crowds.

The traditional feel of the ryokan was amazing. We greatly enjoyed being able to walk around wearing the traditional yukatas and slippers provided (separate slippers for toilet). The dinner was amazing, even vegan option (rare in Japan). Tatami was a comfy thick matrace on the floor, large room, two large beds, best of the whole Japan trip! But the most fantastic highlight was the onsen: real sulphur hot spring coming right from the vulcano. We endjoyed the public bath and even more the smaller private bath where we could take pictures. About 40 minutes to get to Lake Ashi from where we were super lucky to see a wonderful view of Mount Fuji. The stay at this ryokan was my favourite of all the Japan trip. Hotels in cities are tiny, the room here was immense compared and the nature around was soothing. We found a wonderful temple in the woods 10 minutes walk from the ryokan. This stay is definitely my highlight of the trip, filled with wonderful temples and exciting cities. The calm and natural environment of Hakone is priceless.

Wish there was showers on the floor we were staying. And hoped for more availability in the private onset. Even though we checked in quite early most spots were unavailable.

The size of the room was amazing. The bus stop was just across the street. The supplied kimono were very comfortable.

Amazing traditional rooms with lot of space. The hotel offers also public and private onsen that it was a very nice experience and also tattoo friendly. The dinner and the breakfast are worth booking. It was the best part of our stay there. Very friendly personel with very good english skills. Easy to access with a direct bus from Gora station, however be careful to catch the last bus as they stop quite early.

Amazing place! Here you experience the mixture of western comfort and Japanese authenticity. The rooms are really big, and the Asian beds are spacious, soft and comfy. We loved the onsen and breakfasts were various and very tasty. There is a bus stop in front of the hotel (like 3 meters from the door). From this stop there runs a direct bus to Shinjuku station. You can travel with luggage, as you don’t need to walk or take a taxi in Hakone. We loved complimentary Japanese socks! Thank you!

There was construction going on next door, but it wasn’t really an issue other than the view out one window. No noise until well after I was up.

Great ryokan experience at a reasonable price. Both meals were good and the onsen was pleasant.

Private onsen are booked out quickly and you only have 45 minute slots, which can get a little tight when you have to plan in the washing time before getting into the onsen and the time to get ready and potentially blowdry your hair after the onsen bath. But its definitely doable.

The private onsen were extremely beautiful, the traditional japanese rooms with tatami mats were spacious and a great experience to stay at. We had a booked the plan with breakfast and dinner and the meals were absolutely exceptional abundant. The staff was also really friendly. All in all we had the most relaxing time and really fell in love with this place.

It is a bit dated, for example the public Onsen is less fancy than the private ones, but the friendly staff and amazing food experience make up for it and make this a really special place to stay.

A real Japanese cultural experience! The highlight is the traditional bedroom, private Onsen that you can book at reception, and huge Japanese meal spreads for breakfast and dinner. You really learn about Japanese food.

Room is spacious but too small space for a sink to fresh up

Traditional hotel allowing you to dress up the traditional way in Kimono . The hotel disposes of very nice Onsen ( warm thermal springs) facilities and the dinner gives you a good taste of the traditional Japanese food culture. The hotel also has a very good bus connection with a stop next to the hotel.i also would like to compliment Maya who was our waitress during dinner. She was an excellent host and her good English skills made the experience so much nicer as we could establish a good connection with her .

Highly recommend! The highlight of our japan trip and the food was the best one we had in japan too! Private onsen is only 2000yen for the smaller one which is more than enough for 2 people. Bus stop is literally in front of the hotel. We took express bus from shinjuku station directly to the hotel, one bus per hour. I will definitely come back if i have the chance

My only suggestion would be the addition of a small ramp to the side of the entrance steps, after a full travel day with trains and buses, it was tough having to carry (drag) our luggage up the front entrance. There is ample room off to the side for a ramp.

We loved our tub/shower in the private bathroom, a little difficult to get in and out of for older people, but lovely with the view of the mountains outside our window. Breakfast was included and it was a wonderful traditional Japanese breakfast. We loved it! We paid for dinner on our first night but ate at one of the nearby placed for our second night.
