Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyI really recommend you to book the rooms on the South Tower, because they seem to be renovated. I had two rooms and mine was a classic room, and I could clearly notice the difference. My room look older, and it did not include some nice things like Netflix or iron board (the modern room have these). The views are also way better. We added the western breakfast to the reservation. I have to admit I found the price a bit high compared to what it was offered. They also have a japanese breakfast option, maybe next time I would try this;)
Wonderful location, wonderful staff and wonderful hotel overall. The moment you arrive you feel welcomed, the lobby gives the vibes of a 5 stars hotel. Its crazy that the hotel is located exactly at the train station (makes everything easier) and the building is so big that if you get a room on a high floor, you have wonderful mountain views. I really loved the staff, specially a receptionist that helped us with a dining reservation. Unfortunately I forgot his name, but he made our stay beyond special. THANK YOU. It was overall such a nice stay, I loved Yamagata and its sorroundings. The staff seems to be professionally trained and they can also speak good english. They have many type of rooms, we had the classic double room and even though it was not modern, we had a LOT of space and everyday cleaning/water. If I ever come to Yamagata again I would definetly stay here and also recommend it to others. I even wish we stayed here longer!

ChileI arrived 2 minutes late to breakfast the first day because I had a severe migraine and could not get up from bed because of the nausea They didn't let me have breakfast. They only have 2 washing machines so I had to stay up during the night to use them.
It is connected to train station and it has a conbini right at the exit. Great room. Clean bathroom. Great breakfast.

NetherlandsNothing worth to mention
The hotel is right at the Yamagata Station, so very central. Its a bit more of a business hotel, but that brings positives like a more modern design, and with nice decor. The hotel is connected to a shopping mall, but thats only open between 10am and about 8pm. The rooms are small, but quite comfortable. We loved the bed after nights on floors and hard mattresses. Breakfast was very good as well. We parked our car in the parking tower, but we had a bit of trouble finding the right entryway. Nevertheless a great stay.

AustraliaStreaming service on TV like Disney+ did not work too well. A small bump in an otherwise fantastic hotel.
Very easy to find as it is located AT Yamagata station! Very modern and classy hotel that highlights the history and art from Yamagata Prefecture. Our room was the biggest room I've had in Japan for a standard double bed. Windows were large and wide, ceilings were the highest I've ever seen in Japan. Which gave the room a more open spacious feeling. The hotel room had a nice spacious bathroom that is generous for a Japanese style bathroom. Plenty of space for 2 luggages. Bed and pillows were VERY Comfy. TV also included Disney+, and other streaming services. Laundry was available at 2F but there is only 2 machines, but are the hybrid washer/dryer. Staff at reception were very friendly and can speak English to Assist you! Wish to go back to Simply experience this hotel again!

United States of AmericaEverything was great.
We were looking for a hotel where we could drop our bags on the way from Zao Onsen to Ginzan Onsen and then return to stay for the night. In the morning, we were able to take a short train ride to hike up Yamadera and then return before checkout and catch our train to Tokyo. This hotel was perfect because it was literally connected to the train station and right by a big department store/food hall for good local souvenirs and bentos. It was a very nice, large, modern hotel and we did not hear any noise from the trains. Private bathroom and shower. Very good deal for the price.

United KingdomThe buffet breakfast is a little disappointing with the price range and expectation for the hotel at this level. It's tasty but not many options.
Location is 10/10, right at the Yamagata station and can connect to the station and a convenient store directly from the lobby without going out of the building, very convenient! The room is really large and nice with many thoughtful little details. The windows are facing a small garden for the room type we booked, so very nice lighting and beautiful view. Two options for breakfast you can choose from Japanese Teishoku or Western buffet.

TaiwanEverything is great here, nothing much to change.
Breakfast was separate to two sections, western and Japanese style. Both are great but I hope there will be more variety in the Western one. The hotel is super close to station area, convient to travel to most part of yamagata area.
