Nothing really.

Owner and staff are so nice (the cats too of course) !!! We will come back again. This is exactly what a dream hostel can be. Warm, welcoming, friendly, a feeling of home and adventure at the same time. Cats are a plus that means a lot to us. Thank you so much for this journey at your place.

Everything, Rieko and Yoshi was very kind and welcoming. Very clean and friendly. Obviously the cats are the kings of the house and i loved them very much. I will miss them mostly my guy Kogo who liked my belly rubs. Will def be back ❤️

I must have stayed in over 10 hostels during my trip in Japan but this was the best by far. I don't know how Rieko managed to achieve the best hostel experience (maybe because she is a traveler and backpacker) but the combination of the small group of guests, how friendly the owners Rieko and Yoshi are, having a bar attached with a free welcome drink for every night and the CATS just make it such a cozy, heartwarming place and experience. After traveling solo for a while it was exactly the remedy I needed. On one of my last nights there a bunch of people from the hostel including Rieko and Yoshi went to karaoke and it was just such a crazy, fun experience. Another evening I had delicious fresh Sashimi for so cheap at the hostel who have a partnership with a fisherman. I mean it's just a wonderful surprise after another. I loved this place so much and I know that if I ever go back to Osaka I will stay there again, no doubt. You guys were the best.

Stayed there 2 years ago and returning to see cherry blossom. As always, owner Reiko and staff Yoshi etc are friendly and helpful plus Maru and Kogo with personality. Comfy bed and clean. Giving recommendations for local eateries. Gogenya - the best noodle I have ever had in Osaka. Don’t miss it and mind the opening hours. Also a large portion of bento offered by a fish shop, it was delicious too but run out quickly. Thank Reiko and her team🙏

Fun experience. Wonderful cats. We took the private room as a couple. It’s simple, a little noisy, but incredible value. We were able to do laundry, free welcome drinks and good conversations with the team. Location is about 10 minutes from nearest public transport.

Dorm room was a bit stuffy.

After a warm welcome from owner and staff I had a nice stay at mad cat hostel. The cats Maru and Kogo had to warm up to me first, but i got adopted by Kogo soon. The common room is spacious and kitchen well equipped. Toilets and showers on the different levels are clean. Womens dorm was a bit stuffy but bunk beds offer all you need, like outlet,lights,locker,curtain.. quiet hostel and neighbourhood yet close to center and trains. the hostel bar was a nice plus to hang out with locals and make new experiences. But it is not a party place. I will be back!

There wasn't any soap or towel at the toilet so I had to always walk to the closest sink.

They offered you everything that you could need like earplugs, a hair straightener, multiple guides Osaka and the region around the hostel and also a fully equipped kitchen.

Loved the cat theme of the hostel! The owner Rieko is really nice and outgoing, all of the staff was also lovely! There are 2 brother cats as well so it's a really good hostel for all the cat lovers! There's a little bar and they offer free welcoming drinks which was nice.

The best hostel I’ve stayed in during my time in Japan! Staff could not have been more helpful and were incredibly welcoming as soon as I arrived at the hostel. Big pluses were also the cute cats and really comfy beds

If you want to feel like coming home, then this is the place for you! It literally feels like you’re staying with friends and therefore has been one of my greatest and most memorable hostel stays in all of Japan! Everyone is so nice there and especially Yoshi goes out of his way to make sure you’ll have a great time in Osaka - whether it is food recommendations or helping out with an umbrella when there is pouring rain outside. He got you! Thanks for everything to Mad Cat and hopefully I’ll be able to stay there again in the future :)

The location is like 20/30min away from the city center.

I absolutely adored my stay at Mad Cat Hostel Osaka & Bar! The owner's presence and dedication since its founding four years ago added a personal touch to the experience. The hostel's welcoming atmosphere fosters social connections effortlessly, aided by the presence of two adorable cats in the common area, despite the name suggesting otherwise. Don't let the name fool you; it's a fantastic hostel with just the right amount of feline charm to enhance your stay.

Amazing place! You can see, that this is clearly a project of the heart. Everything is very well thought out. Super comfy beds and clean place. The bar is amazing and is open until twelve, it's a nice mingle between guests and local people who come by frequently. Staff is super sweet and helpful and always interested. Can whole-heartedly recommend!

Hard to find something negative, but the only thing that is not 10/10, is the location. Wherever I wanted to go, I could rarely find a direct route. But that is probably Osaka in itself being kinda weird to travel by train. You can easily still go everywhere in Osaka in under an hour, so don't worry.

This Hostel is the perfect adress, if you like home-like Hostels with warm staff and social interactions. Yoshi and Rieko (as well their 4 legged comrades) are the most caring, social and genuine staff I have encountered thus far. The bar offers also a nice opportunity to meet other Hostel guests to just talk to or have a night out. You can also of course just do your own thing and will still be supplied with everything you need for a great Hostel stay. Loved it here, I hope I will have the opportunity to visit Osaka again to stay here for another night!

I wish my stay here was longer.

My favourite hostel in Japan. Reiko and Yoshi are great, the vibes of this hostel were amazing. Moment I walked in, I was able to sit down and talk to other travellers straight away in the common area. Maru and Kogo were the best cats as well. Awesome little bar as well that was welcoming for both travellers and locals. 10/10 would stay in Mad Cat Hostel again.
