Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

QatarWe tried to make a reservation at the hotel sushi restaurant - unfortunately that didn't work out. My wife made a booking for the spa - which was messed up at first. Had to push and be flexible on our end to get her her spa treatment. But the hotel did a decent service recovery for their mistake.
Very nice high-end hotel - really enjoyed the stay.

United KingdomLocated a bit far from train station but hotel shuttle service was very frequent & efficient.
A modern & comfortable hotel with excellent facilities. Staff was very friendly and eager to provide the best possible experience. Rooms were large, spotless, tastefully decorated and regularly serviced. Breakfast was excellent with good choice of Japanese and continental food.

LuxembourgEverything is enjoyable in every aspect; there is absolutely nothing that could be disliked.
This gem may be located a bit further from the main attractions of Nara Park, but it is without a doubt worth the visit. Finally, a truly luxurious five-star hotel. The hotel's delightful aesthetics, incredibly comfortable rooms, outstanding cuisine, and wonderful spa are just a few highlights of the exceptional experience. However, what truly sets this hotel apart is the remarkable team of professionals who go above and beyond to make every guest feel welcome and taken care of. We had the pleasure of returning to Nara after 18 years, and the staff had prepared a thoughtful welcome note and even surprised us with a complimentary dessert dish for breakfast, accompanied by a note. The front desk staff were attentive to our every request, question, and need, always going the extra mile to ensure our satisfaction. They provided us with fantastic suggestions that were off the beaten path, beyond what one could find in travel guides, and their recommendations for local restaurants were top-notch. Additionally, we are immensely grateful that we were able to find refuge at the Marriott Nara during Typhoon Lan. Throughout the entire ordeal, we felt safe and well-cared for. We extend our deepest thanks to the entire team. It was truly heartbreaking to leave, but we will most definitely be returning in the future.

United States of AmericaThis particular question is comprehensively not applicable to the JW Marriott Hotel Nara.
The JW Marriott Hotel Nara is located directly next to the NHK News studio building and tethered to the Nara Prefecture Convention Centre, a truly central and convenient location. In addition, the Nara Prefecture municipal building is directly across the street. The train to Osaka is less than a brisk ten minute walk and the train ride to Osaka is approximately twenty-five minutes. The MiNara shopping mall is less than a ten minutes walk. Inside, you have access to a fully staffed food court, consumer electric store, toy store, chemist/ 100¥ store and so much more. The primary reason to visit the JW Marriott Hotel is the staff; the entire staff was always professional, well dressed, perfect fluency in English and extremely knowledgeable of Japanese culture, history and customs. This is a safe place for non white people! All guests have access to a twenty-four hour sports centre/ weight training facility. The Swimming pool is opened from 8 to 20th hour all week. Moreover, please experience the spa's experienced massage professionals. The restaurants are beautifully designed and decorated with the Nara theme and the food is fresh and delicious. To save money, please prepay for the breakfast package. I will certainly be returning to the JW Marriott Nara.

United States of AmericaNo award member credit booked via Booking.com. Also, a hotel representative directed me to park in the conference center parking garage upon arrival (which is connected to the hotel garage). After checking out the next morning, I went down to the hotel parking garage only to find that there was garage door closed and blocking any access to the conference center side of the garage. I spent the next 15-20 minutes taking to different staff around the hotel and conference center. Finally, a staff member cleaning around the conference center gave me directions to enter the conference parking garage through a vehicle entry point where I was able to retrieve my car and make it to the airport on time. It was an unfortunate and inconvenient incident that made our trip a little bit stressful.
The property had a small parking garage in the basement, a beautiful property with delicious meals available at several restaurants on-property, and very comfortable and luxurious room with a clean and spacious bathroom.

JapanNo complaints at all!
A beautiful, new property with attentive and friendly staff. The breakfast buffet is tasty and plentiful, as was our dinner at The Silk Road. Do yourself a favor and make sure that you have club access when booking.

ItalyTo be quite honest it was a really bad experience. I’ve stayed in other JW Marriot in the past and this one has no met the expectations. It’s definitely not up to the standard of the other JW. There is not organization at all. So many employees and staff scattered around the hotel but none of the was really prepared. They force us to book the spa in order to use it. Once we got there there were so many kids running around on the lockers room, sauna, jacuzzi and pool. Jumping and diving off, it was literally like a water park. Shouldn’t be the spa time a moment of relax?!?! This wasn’t at all. They should not allow children on spa or do two different zones, a kids zone and and adult only ones. Then I went to the spa front desk to ask for a massage. Two girls were there and none of them spoke a single word of English. Come one how can you hire a spa manager in a 5 stars resort that has 0 English proficiency? For this reason I couldn’t do any massage. Later at dinner, again so many difficulties with communication. We ordered 2 appetizers and 2 main courses, they forgot to send to the kitchen of the appetizer and they ended up bringing the dishes all the different times. In the room there were not drinking glasses, I’ve asked for one, they took it up to the room after 30 minutes and after 2 urge calls. I had to take a medication. To conclude with that today we had the check up at 11 am, at 11:05 they called the room to ask to leave it. And the again at 11:10 they sent someone upstairs to check if we were leaving. That is extremely rude, they say Japanese manners not at the JW. 0 tolerance, I would have understood if we would have been a hour late but not 15 minutes. Unbelievable. I had great expectations before coming but they did not meet them at all. What a pity
The room was really nice, spacious and clean. The bathroom too. Some amenities were missing though
