Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

JapanIt would have been good if there was a power outlet close to the fridge for the electric kettle.
Quiet bnb style was comfortable, but not super modern. Good value for money though, and clean comfortable rooms.

AustraliaIt could have been made clearer that the bathroom was shared - although the shower and bath were both great. It’s a little older in terms of fitout but that’s nitpicking; it was very clean and well-maintained.
The cozy, classic atmosphere was really nice. The rooms were generously sized. The location is good, close to public transport and good spots around the city.

AustraliaFinding the place was tricky and I am still not sure of the name of the place. Street access was very uncertain - upstairs though a coffee and whisky bar
The room was great - big space for futons, a separate area for sitting and good access to our own bathroom toilet.. It was very quiet. It was a good walk from the railway station that helped get a feel for Nagasaki. From the ryokan it was easy walking to all the sights

CanadaThe shared toilet is a bit cold, especially in the early mornings. However it’s kept very tidy and clean.
Very welcoming and friendly staffs, spacious and clean room. Great location and very walkable to most of tourist attractions.

CanadaIt’s uphill to the property so if you have lots of luggages it may not be a pleasant walk. Also there’s no elevator in the property.
Staffs are very friendly, warm and helpful. They also provide a package of drip coffee (their specialty blend)each day. The room is very spacious, clean, comfortable and I had good sleep during my stay. The location is very close to Nagasaki station and the bus stop to Nagasaki Airport.

SingaporeNothing to dislike. Suggest property includes a map to show how to quickly walk to the property along Sakuramachi in their property description on the booking site. Google Maps tried to lead us to the shortest route, but involved upslopes and multuple turns.
good-sized family room, near the bus terminal and railway sration, nearby tram stops, food outlets because of proximity to the railway station, comfortable bed, adjustable room temperature.

GermanyFutons a bit hard (for me as a Westerner) . Asked for an extra mattress pad and it was fine.
A very friendly and charming Japanese Style Inn in central Nagasaki, 2min fom tram and 10min walk from JR Station. We had a tatami room which was spacious, with seating and dining areas and traditional futons (which were a bit hard for my Western back but I got used to them). The rooms were immaculately clean, common areas conveneient with tea, a laundry and a large wash basin. There are also Western Style rooms (I did not see them) and a cosy cafe and bar on the first floor. There is also secure parking at a very reasonable price on site, a rarity in central Nagasaki. Staff was so friendly! We speak only a tiny bit of Japanese but used a translation app and managed to communicate well.

AustraliaAll information was on Japanese - so I may have missed a few key instructions. On-site staffing appeared intermittent. But this wasn’t a problem. There was a coffee / whisky set up on the 2nd floor - but no action.
Location - a 10 minute walk from the station and close to a restaurant district. The room was beautiful and the Japanese furniture and futon well maintained and comfortable.

SwitzerlandOne person at the reception was not very friendly, not empathic at all. Did not feel welcome. The air conditioning was blowing to the feet as opposed to upper body. Are you needed to get out of the reception outside to walk up to the fourth floor to get to your room.
Relatively quiet room, people obeyed to the rules, so that was all fine. It was clean and the location was very good.

JapanThere's no reception before 3pm which means you can't drop your luggage before that time. It's definitely not compatible with traveling. The closest lockers are at the station, which is 20min away with heavy luggage. And the lockers at the station charge you twice if you do an overnight...
