We liked everything. I would add they were very responsive to my many inquiries prior to arrival. If I was staying more than 1 night, I would inquire whether there is anything to do in the facilities or nearby, such as walks, etc. For us, we checked in late afternoon & departed the next morning after breakfast, so we were fine, just relaxing in our rooms and taking advantage of the bath

Meals beautifully served & met our expectations to experience traditional Japanese fare. Not sure it would appeal to all palates or if American meal offered.

As with the other places we stayed in Japan, the mattresses were very firm and not as comfortable as we would have liked.

The only thing was that the curtains in the bedroom didn't block the sunlight, so we woke up quite early in the morning. If you're a light sleeper, I suggest you put a blindfold.

The room was gorgeous and specious. We had such a beautiful view to the mountains and a lovely balcony, but the best part was the private onsen in the room. It overlooked the mountains and was specious enough that too people could relax in it. The kaiseki dinner was very generous and delicious. Breakfast was Japanese style, meaning fish and miso soup (as well as our delicacies), so if you're not used to it - prepare yourselves. Staff was kind and helpful, and organized a pick-up service for us from the Hakone Open Air Museum.

The ryokan was absolutely beautiful. The staff were so friendly and kind despite speaking limited english and always tried their best to make us feel comfortable. The room itself was so spacious, clean and comfy - couldn’t have asked for a better home for 1 night. The meals were also meticulously prepared and very delicious - it gave the feel of a homey yet luxurious experience. 10/10 would recommend and revisit!

Very nice meals but it felt like the meals were heavily bulked out by rice.

A tradtional ryokan were you a treated with a lot of care and respect. A truly immersive experience where you want to spend as much of the day at the accommodation as possible. The view from our room was stunning and the hot spring bath with views out to the mountains was a special experience that I will treasure. Definitely recommend a stay here for an amazing ryokan experience.

The moment we walked in and we were offered complimentary drinks with a warm greeting. From start to finish, the customer service was just on point and everyone was so warm. The food they prepared and organised for us was also delicious.

Check-in and check-out times are clearly communicated, so you can't come early and leave your luggage there. We thus used the convenient luggage delivery service available at the Hakone Yumoto station and it worked perfectly. We could go for a nice hike and when we arrived later in the evening, the luggage was in our rooms already.

Very kind,discrete and caring staff. The ryokan style accommodation has a very nice design with a lot of subtile details that complement each other. The 9 course dinner was marvelous and we also hat a trqditional Japanese breakfast in thr morning.The staff inquired about food preferences or food allergies one week before, but we did not request any changes to fully enjoy what the ryokan traditionally would like to offer.

It was lovely. The weather was rainy so we enjoyed our room for a couple hours before dinner. The private onsen was fabulous and we took 3 soaks before departing at 11:00 the next morning.

Everything was good

Traditional Japanese cuisine with an amazing service and private hot springs tub in the room. Location is perfect to explore Hakone. Everything was delicious and the staff was great, helpful and friendly.

There is a small amount of road noise occasionally due to a nearby road. Not very high traffic so isn't a problem.

Everything about our stay was exceptional. Welcome drinks at check-in was the start to a very carefully considered service experience. The food is delicious, great traditional japanese breakfast and dinner with high quality seasonal ingredients. Our room was beautiful with a lucky viewing of a full blooming sakura right outside the balcony. Private bath tubs are spacious and very relaxing. We could take as long of a bath as we wanted at any time. Massage chair in room is appreciated after long travels. Room was very quiet. Bottle service to the room after dinner was also great. Did not have a single complaint!

We loved everything about Hakone Kyuan. We were picked up by a shuttle van at the train station, and the whole check in process was so easy and convenient. The ryokan is a small, traditional ryokan with only 10 rooms. They were fully booked but we felt like we were the only guests there. We saw other guests only when it was check out time. That's how exceptional the privacy and service was during our stay. The private onsen was truly relaxing. The kaiseki dinner and traditional Japanese breakfast were delicious and beautifully presented. The dinner included toro sashimi and wagyu beef. The sweet lady who served our meals explained the food. They were supposed to shuttle us back to the train station but accommodated our request to be dropped off at the Hakone Open Air Museum instead (which is just a minute's drive from the train station).
