How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The lights on the staircase don't activate until you have taken 2 or 3 steps.
Spacious, light and a good layout, with 2 bedrooms and a separate bathroom. A kitchen with everything you need. Comfortable beds and great water pressure.

The property was charming and well-equipped in a central yet quiet location . The small balcony had a pretty view. The green colour of the interior was calming . Communication was good.

The shower overflows. It could be nice to have A/C in the second room.

The place needs a bit of attention - a bit of paint here and there, a kettle will be nice, a shelf in the bathroom, electric switch for the balcony light was broken. Things that can be easily mended.
Great location. Very very nice host, communication was easy. Alessandra was very helpful, picked us up from the bus station and booked a taxi for the railway station when we were leaving. It was possible to leave our luggage before check-in time.

it was all good.
it was a nice apartment in a great location and Alessandra was so helpful. She arranged parking for us & when my husband broke a tooth & needed a dentist she organised one for us. communication was fantastic and she was super helpful

It will be better if we are provided with detergent, toaster and kettle.
It is wonderful for a couple of days for us as we are new to the area. it is very central to everything in the Island of Ortigia.

We loved the location of Loft Alessandra…. easy access to good restaurants, bars, the markets and general sight seeing. it was a well thought out layout and everything worked well. Alessandra was very friendly and helpful.

What a lovely apartment, it feels like a home away from home. Ir is quiet and well equipped. It is situated in the heart of Ortigia so all the city has to offer is just a minute away. The contact with the lovely well English speaking host was perfect and hospitable.

Excellent location, easy walk to restaurants, shops and sights. Great little apartment, good use of available space. Well equipped. The host went out of her way to make our stay easy and comfortable.

The water pressure in the shower isn't the best in the afternoon, but I guess that's normal when you stay in the old town of a city. It was enough to shower, it just took a little longer to wash my long hair after a day at the beach.
We had an amazing holiday staying at Alessandra's apartment in Ortigia! The location of the apartment is great, easy to get to, and close to shops and restaurants. The apartment is spacious, and has everything you need, even a small kitchen and a balcony. And most importantly AC in both the living room and the bedroom, which is much needed in the July heat. Alessandra is really helpful and was always available on WhatsApp for any questions we had, and came straight over when we needed something, like extra towels. She made us feel really welcome when we came, and had stacked the refrigerator with water and left us baked goods. During our stay she gave us great advice on everything from restaurants to the best beaches around Siracusa. We definitely recommend staying at Alessandra's!
