Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NorwayThe bed could be a bit better as it’s too soft and squeaks on every movement.

RomaniaThe room was a bit noisy due to the traffic outside. The guest house was located in the building directly at the intersection, but the problem was solved with some good ear plugs from the pharmacy across the street
The room was very very clean and nice organised. The guest house was relatively close to most destinations. you could walk to the trevi fountain, pantheon, colloseum. in the premises there was also a mini kitchen where you could prepare a coffee or tea or something light for breakfast. Across the street is the church of Santa Maria Maggiore, an important tourist point in Rome, of particular beauty.

United KingdomExcellent clean room where the beds were made every day, very friendly host who was always on call if needed. Location of apartment is one of main attractions, within walking distance to all attractions/points of interest and 5minutes from main Metro/Train station. Everything you would want, wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

United KingdomThe only slight problem was that there was no air conditioning due to it being a old building. This would have been fine as the host provided us with a fan but we came to Rome when it was 42 degree heat in July this summer! So, that was a bit of a struggle, but this wouldn't have been a problem in the other months.
Location! - the location was really good, it was facing a beautiful church called Santa Maria Maggiore. It was in walking distance to the Colosseum, Spanish steps and the Trevi Fountain. We had to get a taxi to the Sistine Chapel but Uber is great in Rome. The house was lovely, had a lot of room in our bedroom and our own bathroom. It was a shared kitchen but it had plenty of supplies and a good size. Before coming the host text me asking if I had any requirements for a specific room etc, I asked for the one that faced the church and we was given that one!

United StatesThe rooms was NY-small, but very clean and neat, with built in bathroom. Every inch of space was used. Shared kitchen with fridge and stove, that we didn’t use, given all the great eating out opportunities nearby.
Very central, we were able to walk to all those Roman sites. Very friendly host and straightforward people. It took us some time to figure out the way to keep our room cool, but that was more our ignorance than anything else. We had a great time at the place.

NetherlandsWhat we did not know until arriving there (we might have overlooked this ourselves) was that we did have a private bathroom, but it was not attached to our bedroom. This meant that we had to walk through the hallway to get to our bathroom. This was, at times, not really comfortable, especially when you have to use the bathroom at night. The shower is a bit small as well.
I loved the location, especially the view of the Santa Maria Maggiore Cathedral. We love walking, so we walked almost everywhere (some attractions are closer than others), in particular the walk to the Forum Romanum and Colosseum was nice, through a park. The room was cosy with a cute window.

AustraliaThe property was a little far out from main attractions and especially the good restaurant areas in Rome, 30 mins walk to Trevi Fountain area, Colosseum is closer . It was close to the main station though which was an advantage. Shower was poor but manageable.
Good value for money guest house, with basic room and private bathroom detached from room by a hallway. The host was lovely and available for questions. Cooking facilities available.

United StatesLoud at night, but also warm this time of year. The standing AC isn't very powerful, so if you're a hot sleeper, you may need to open the windows despite the noise. Small, but if you're just here for sleeping that doesn't matter!

FranceLate check-in (20 euros after 8pm) for 30 min, it is quite expensive... Room is not well insulated : very noisy when people close their door in the corridor or when the bells of the church ring. The shower cabin is very small : you cannot bend over (I am not a giant, only 1m75 and 65kg). Big people, consider yourself warned! :-)
Location : well situated, close to Termini train station and at a walking distance from points of interest.

United KingdomBecause it's an old building they aren't allowed to install aircon. This meant having to leave the windows open at night. Because it's a busy location, this meant it could be noisy.
It was a charming old building in a convenient location. The proprietor was very friendly and helpful.

United KingdomThere were sensor cameras pointing to our door so whenever we needed to use the external bathroom or leave, we felt it was recorded. The glass on the windows really needs updating as you can hear everything on the street, I think if this was updated then it would sort the biggest issue- it is the reason for my score. There is a bar below that plays loud music as well, one night we slept only three hours due to noise. The bed is very loud too, it creaks at the slightest movement. We stayed for three nights but did not get any new towels or toilet paper. There was no lounge, only an external kitchen with a dining table.
The location is very good, you can walk anywhere in Rome. The bed we had was soft and the pillows were nice. The view is amazing to sleep with. The lady was nice. The bathroom and bedroom are of a very good size for a couple. It is decorated nicely with fake ivy and flowers, she's done a good job. We came 20 minutes before our appointment check in but were still able to check in at 3:10pm.
