Featuring direct beach access, this resort has a barbecue area overlooking the ocean. Each self-contained apartment includes a private balcony or patio. We stayed on the top floor in an apartment facing the ocean. I think it was number 8. It was perfect. We could cook our own meals in the well equipped full kitchen. It was well laid out to sleep a family of 4 and the beds were comfortable. We slept so well because of the black out blinds and lapping ocean just outside, My 22 year old daughter enjoyed using the trampoline and we both enjoyed the hot tub and having our meals on our balcony overlooking the beautiful view, The hosts were also lovely and very helpful with suggestions as to things to do. it was well located to walk and drive to different sites to visit in the surrounding areas. A nice bonus is it also had Netflix to relax at night with a movie, Because of the lack of noise and light pollution, star gazing was at its best. I would highly recommend this property.

Situated in the heart of an eco and wilderness park, Treetops Lodge & Estate offers luxurious suites and villas with views of the forest and lakes. Beautiful lodgings and surrounding. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating.

Situated in the heart of Tongariro National Park, Skotel Alpine Resort offers a restaurant, a hot tub and a terrace bar with a fireplace. Most accommodations boast stunning mountain or region views. Super friendly receptionist. The breakfast as buffet with everything I need for a good power breakfast.

Taupo DeBretts Spa Resort is just 800 metres from Lake Taupo crater lake. It has a natural thermal spa and is only 5 minutes' drive from the Taupo town centre. Free Wi-Fi is available. Fantastic check in, all the staff were very friendly! the beds were extremely comfy and we had a little fridge for our snacks. The pools were great to relax in after the road trip and the sunset was amazing! We also booked dinner at the Hilton which was super yummy! It was such a great trip, and only a 3 min walk into town

Beachside Resort Motel is less than 5 minutes walk from Whitianga centre and less than 100 metres from Buffalo Beach. The hotel has an outdoor pool and a tennis court. Exceeded expectations. However, expected sea views as per hotel name. A bit Fawltey Towers-- had to stand high on corner of room to see sea views between other houses in front of hotel. However everything else was perfect.

You can walk to Cathedral Cove from Hahei Beach Resort, follow the beach and connect to the Cathedral Cove walkway (the walk takes about 1 hour each way). Location was perfect, staff were lovely. Really relaxing place.

Just 8 minutes’ walk from Whangamata Beach, Palm Pacific Resort & Motel boasts an outdoor pool, a hot tub and a tennis court. The location and how close it was to everything.

Located on The Esplanade overlooking Tairua Harbour, Paku Lodge Resort offers self-contained accommodation with a private balcony and harbour views. Great location, right opposite a toddler friendly beach. Staff was friendly and helpful when we arrived much later than originally planned. There is a common BBQ, laundry possibilities and one can borrow spades for hot water beach.

Located next to the Lost Spring Thermal Pools, this resort offers direct access to Buffalo Beach and has a heated outdoor pool, tennis court and a children's playground. Great location, great accommodation and a really nice receptionist!!! Regret that we only stayed one night. Will definitely come back!!

Situated atop a cliff above Kariotahi Beach, Castaways Resort boasts views of the Tasman Sea. It is 10 minutes’ drive from Waiuku and 70 kms drive from Auckland city centre. Top end .. everything included , even washing machine dryer.. very clean ..roomy but the best was the view with an amazing terrace . we could not expect better .. all rooms were big and so convenient ..Everything you need in the kitchen.. very nice parking at the door.. short walk to the restaurant .. breakfast buffet was amazing .. Highly recommended for the spectacular view and comfort. You should go to the restaurant for dinner or lunch , best selection. Very friendly and helpful staff at the Reception
