Situated in the heart of Tongariro National Park, Skotel Alpine Resort offers a restaurant, a hot tub and a terrace bar with a fireplace. Most accommodations boast stunning mountain or region views.

The highest hotel in New Zealand, Skotel Alpine is 10 minutes’ drive from the Whakapapa Ski Fields. Tongariro Alpine Crossing is 20 minutes’ drive away. The location was incredible! The staff was very friendly. The facilities seemed a bit older, but mostly quite clean.

You can walk to Cathedral Cove from Hahei Beach Resort, follow the beach and connect to the Cathedral Cove walkway (the walk takes about 1 hour each way).

Located on The Esplanade overlooking Tairua Harbour, Paku Lodge Resort offers self-contained accommodation with a private balcony and harbour views. Guests enjoy free Wi-Fi, BBQ facilities and free kayak and bicycle rental. Great little resort. Even better they had free laundry facilities! Great location for a morning walk. Make sure you do Mt Paku if you stay here, well worth the walk.
