Facing the beachfront, Cap Karoso Sumba - a member of Design Hotels offers 5-star accommodation in Tambolaka and has free bikes, outdoor swimming pool and fitness centre. I have a long history of international travel, including high-end hotels. I don't give a 10 rating often. But Cap Karoso was exceptional. The stand-outs include the food (remarkable!), and the landscaping and hotel grounds immaculate. The ambiance was perfect for me. Even the music choices in public places. I am booking a return trip now, bringing friends.

The hotel is beautifully designed and in a beautiful area very close to some picturesque beaches. The staff are very friendly and attentive and make it easy to organise trips and activities so you can experience Sumba. Surf lessons are a lot of fun and the village tour and waterfall tour are both great. Cocktails were really good, as was the food at breakfast. The hotel seems to have a good relationship with the local people and seems to have genuinely benefitted Sumba.

The Sumba Hospitality Fund initiative is so wonderful, and the students went above and beyond to take care of us and make our stay very special. The rooms are very unique and the food ans drinks are all delicious (a lot grown in their own farm) and food included in the price. The outdoor bathroom is super cool. Fresh and made with local ingredients. We loved each meal. Perfect spot to relax and enjoy the peacefulness of the island. The owners are kind and very friendly. We loved every minute in here. Everything was homecooked and made we love. There is no plastic and waste in here and there is free water to have at all times.

Lelewatu Resort Sumba features free WiFi and rooms with air conditioning in Watukarere. Everything! We were wowed by everything in our bungalow/villa. The best view ever! Blue ocean, breathtaking sunset, thousands of stars in the night sky. The villa was really private, bed was very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely love to come back in the future!
