This place gave us a feeling of being a guest at a dear old friends home more so than at a bed and breakfast. Chris and fur-baby Roxy are excellent hosts, and the ohana was perfect for my husband and my two-night stay. It is centrally located in Pahoa town, making it convenient to run errands either to the village center or to Hilo town. The home is a shared accommodation, which was a first for us. There was another couple staying for one night, and they were very nice and kept to themselves. Chris is very personable and easy to be around, whether you want to hang out and chat, or just chill by yourself and read. Roxy is a beautiful, well-behaved Carolina dog, and for us, a joy to have around.

This newly renovated house in the jungle has an expansive yard and is in a beautiful setting. Everything worked. There was good communication from hosts. The birds erupt into a cacophony at night adding to the magic of the experience. There's no TV. Kids had a blast catching lizards in the meticulously landscaped garden.

There was a record player with old Hawaiian vinyl records that added to the mood, and a gorgeous bathroom that we really appreciated after camping. Even the overhead fan was hand carved to suit the Hawaiian castaway oasis aesthetic. Gilligans Island, eat your heart out. Now you can feel like you have been shipwrecked on a deserted island but with all the luxuries! The open air kitchen was spotlessly clean, with all the amenities and a morning visit by a friendly hen who left us a fresh egg - look under the stove, near the microwave for a breakfast egg delivery!
