Fargo, Bismarck, and Grand Forks are popular with other travelers visiting North Dakota.
We stopped in Medora to visit Theodore Roosevelt National Park and that worked out well .The south unit is right there and the north unit was a reasonable drive away. Since it was late in the season, some of the attractions and restaurants were closed. However, we did enjoy nice dinners at the Rough Riders Hotel and Boots. Nice town in North Dakota!
Be sure and visit the North Dakota Heritage Center and State Museum while in Bismarck. It's next to the state capitol building, so that's a place to see as well. The area is steeped in Indian history as well as Lewis & Clark's expedition at the beginning of the 19th century.
Beulah is a small town in coal country in the middle of western North Dakota. Most visitors are most likely associated with the coal companies and their employees. Beulah can be a great stop over for those wanting to check out the Garrison Dam and Lake Sakakawea for fishing. And for hunters, the area is filled with pheasants. Beualah is a relatively short drive from the airport in Bismarck (90 minutes) and there is enough restaurants to keep you satisfied for a short trip to the country.
Fargo is a great citiy weather for February was great, 53 the weekend I was there. Must see are the transformation that is being done in downtown with many small shops, restaurants , bars and of course the Fargo theater. The West Acres shopping area has just about everything you would be looking for. The 3 University's have activities going throughout the school year with the biggest campus North Dakota State university home of the Bison, 5 time FCS National Champion Bison who play in the FargoDome one of the loudest venues in college sports. The Scheels Center at the Shac is a great place to attend basketball ball game The people in Fargo are the friendliest people in the country who will make your visit to Fargo enjoyable. Check it out you may be surprised, if you can go during the Football season you won't be disappointed.
Minot with a population of 47,000 is the hub city for northwestern North Dakota. As such it serves the needs of its agricultural base along with the oil industry and the US Air Force due to the nearby Minot Air Force Base. Visitors to Minot enjoy our Scandinavian Heritage Park where they can see an old fashioned Scandinavian church replica which is called a stavkirche and many other items unique to Scandinavia such as the Swedish horse statue shown in the illustration. Minot's Roosevelt Park Zoo is a gem of smaller zoo and kids of all ages will enjoy seeing the animals there. And those people who have an enthusiasm for aviation or railroading will enjoy the Dakota Territory Air Museum and/or the Old Soo Depot Transportation Museum. To see big name entertainment and a chance to catch the true flavor of Minot be sure to visit the ND State Fairgrounds either during the State Fair held in late July OR Hostfest which is held every year in late September. It is best to use your own vehicle for transportation in Minot. There are city buses but they run limited routes only for daytime hours as a rule. That way you can avail yourself of the many eating places. Personal favorites include Homesteaders for tasty home style meals and The Starving Rooster provides a more trendy experience. Another fun dining experience can be had at ND Asia where they cook your asian food order right at your table. The brave souls are treated to a drink of sake squirted into their mouth by the chef. Otherwise you can find many of the widely known eatery names commonly found such as Perkins, Ground Round, Ruby Tuesday's, Dennys, McDonalds, Five Guys Burgers and Fries, and so on. What would I avoid in Minot? ABout the only thing I can think of is not being warmly dressed during a winter blizzard in January. But we make up for it with our friendliness and wam hearts.
Fargo must be one of the fastest growing cities in North Dakota, and maybe even the continental United States. What stood out the most about West Fargo was all of the new and recent construction. In just a few short years it has changed from a rural city into a metropolitan area. Other than the seemingly daily prevailing wind Fargo would be a good place to live.
Minot is ok if you've never left North Dakota. Its better than Williston. Construction was a mess. Hopefully they'll be finished soon. Minot has some great things to do for a family or for adults. Its nice.
Fargo, Well Okay! Our daughter picked a great town to attend college. "North Dakota Nice" is a real thing and we've experienced on each our 3 trips. Looking forward to more visits.
Nice little town in North Dakota. Excellent dinosaur museum and a good walking tour of downtown. Great place to stay if your headed to Theodore Roosevelt National Park. And don't pass up the " Wurst Shop in Dickinson" for some great German food!
Been there many times, this was a bad road experience with weather, but it's North Dakota and never know what we will experience. Had a fabulous meal at Jacks.
The breakfast was excellent. A lot of choices. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was great it was right across the street from my daughters apartment. ThT was the main reason we went out to North Dakota. We were within walking distance to her apartment if we sat outside we could see her balcony. If and when we ever come out there again the Inn at Hunters Run is where we’ll be staying for sure. We couldn’t have been more pleased with our stay. Thank you again for the wonderful hospitality.
Dickinson
Honestly, I thought the staff were friendly until the manager hired my bf as a maintenance man, we were super excited for that, and then day 4 fired him and didn’t pay him then told her we owe them money. The manager at the Dickinson North Dakota red roof is completely unprofessional and will agree to one thing then tell you another. I will never stay at this hotel ever again. And I will contact the hotel board to report this person.
Not a fucking thing i hade made them book me a room in salt lake city Utah and we could not find the hotel by the air port .called to get the address and was told it was.in north Dakota 16 hrs away they refused to change my room to salt lake city and told no credit back and they wanted 200$to change and make it right fuck you Booking.Com.it was your mistake ass hole. Getting hung up on 5 times
I booked this hotel in February, knowing I would attend the North Dakota state fair in July. The location to the fairgrounds and the rate I got by booking months in advance was great. The location seemed safe, and the hotel was very quiet. The front desk staff was great. They were very helpful and got me the missing items from my room that I requested. There was a very nice outdoor patio area.
Medora and North Dakota was great. Friendly and helpful. Stayed at 3 properties with great staff and facilities. All 3 get 8 or higher points with exception of this property which has serious problems. Spent 3 nights at this property and have never rated a hotel this low. I wish there was something positive I could say about this property.
I visited here 20 years ago and remembered the pool area fondly. I couldn't recall the name of the place so I scanned dozens of hotels in North Dakota until I found it. It was so delightful to share the place with my kids. Breakfast was great!
The rooms were clean and roomy. No character in hotel for being in North Dakota. The pool was refreshing and wonderful. Liked the late hours for the pool and huge slide the kids loved. Thank you. Also on has an arcade but we ran out of time.
It's a really nice hotel in what is otherwise a pretty desolate location in North Dakota. We like that it's owned and operated by the local native community. Room was spacious and attractive, lobby and breakfast area lovely.
Breakfast buffet was exceptional. My daughter loved the “toilet bowl” slide the most.
Your front desk staff was awesome! Courtney was super friendly and helpful. Food from the restaurant was well made and delicious! It was a great stay and I will be back in September!!
The hotel, the 60ies atmosphere, the retro decorations, the original brown interior of the rooms, this is grandeur of the past that is luckily still to be enjoyed. Even a free shuttle service is available. Personnel is super friendly. So recommended.
First of all, the lobby was a giant "WHOA" when we first walked in. The garden theme was so lovely and relaxing. There are 4 small hot tubs scattered around the large space, along with bridges, plants, and a koi pond. We were fortunate enough to get a room on the second floor with a balcony, and it was perfect after a long day of driving. It was one of the cleanest hotels we've stayed in in quite some time. The breakfast was on par with Hampton Inn, having enough of a selection for most people. I would absolutely stay here again!
Breakfast waffles no smoking area
Staff upon check in great very friendly, it was clean, quiet, had a problem with our room was quickly resolved, breakfast great as always, would go again
This spa suite was wonderful.

The hotel was very clean and smelled amazing! The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. I will definitely stay there again.
