This family-owned hotel in Visby’s attractive Almedalen Park is 98 feet from the Baltic Sea. It offers free Wi-Fi, along with tastefully and individually decorated rooms. I must admit that, having made a booking for a stay at Villa Alma, I ended up being forced to cancel it at the last minute for unforeseen reasons. Under the reservation terms, I would still be required to bear a full charge - but the utterly courteous and understanding manner in which the property handled my request to waive that charge is by itself deserving of all praise. I will most certainly try to come and visit at a later date and will recommend the property to other people as well.

This charming, eco-friendly hotel is just inside Visby’s medieval city walls, 1148 feet from Stora Torget square. It offers 2 furnished courtyards, free Wi-Fi and cozy, individually designed rooms. The perfect location, in the center, but in a quiet part of town. Everything is nearby. The attached church "ruin" makes for a wonderful setting to breakfast or have afternoon 'fika'. The breakfast was delicious and a hardy start for the day. The truly most exceptional was the friendly and helpful staff.

This hotel is housed in a medieval, 13th-century building, only 328 feet from Visby Cathedral. Free WiFi is offered. Ulrika and Tobias are amazing hosts: kind, discrete, available and friendly! The room's design and forniture was amazing and they care a lot about using local and homemade products for breakfast (bread, jams, granola, etc.) and in the room's equipment (soap and blankets crafted in Gotland). The night check-in instructions were very clear. After the check-out they kept my luggage for some hours and they were kind enough to call a taxi for me, letting me stay in a really cozy living room to wait for it. The hotel is located in the old town, close to the main attractions and facilities and very easy to reach by foot.

Great atmosphere in summer.
Great atmosphere in summer. Very attractive old town with lots of interesting buildings. Easy to get around on foot. You need a car to explore the rest of Gotland. The nearby island of Fårö is definitely worth a visit just to see the raukar pinnacles on the beach. The island was Ingmar Bergman's favourite place and there is a museum there.

Visiting the Medieval walled city, with its ruined churches was one of the treats of our vacation. Walking in the city, one got an inkling of how it must have been 500 years ago. (Caution: there are a lot of hills!) The museum holds a number of runes that are remarkable to see. If you have a car, day trips around Gotland include 18th Century churches, sea stacks ( a truly interesting geological occurrence), and many old, preserved windmills. Side note: We used Europcar for our rental car as the major American firms were booked solid. They even imported a new Volkswagen for us to drive as I required a manual transmission car. Visby and Gotland are off the beaten track for many travelers, but well worth a visit.

Just what we needed for a family stay on Gotland.
Just what we needed for a family stay on Gotland. The restaurant was good. We hired bikes at the resort and cycled to nearby fishing village. Good swimming and a diving platform in the sea. One day in Visby was interesting for all. The museum is fascinating and we walked around the walls. Everyone enjoyed Gotland.

A very unique place to visit. I am glad we went there. So many things to do hiking, history, dining. Could easily spend a week in this town/Gotland. Only drawback, rather expensive, but due to the somewhat remote location probably unavoidable.

Visby is a must-see if you are going to Sweden.
Visby is a must-see if you are going to Sweden. Be sure to visit the museum for a good overview of its history. If you can afford it, rent a car for a day and drive around Gotland. The botanical garden in Visby especially nice. And the big square for lunch or dinner is atmospheric. Plan several months ahead if you are flying there.

The view from the top of Lotsbacken (Pilote´s hill) and the old weather mill is breathtaking and if you walk at the wateredge you will see million year old stone formations -raukar and remnants of cement ovens from 17th Century and younger. On bike you have access to the gulf course, to Forests and beaches on very pleasant roads. We had oppurtunity to eat at different places around the North of Gotland, in Slite all restaurants were renovated so we coo.ked only our breakfast. In Slite you walk or bike, everything is near! There is fun for all ages from library, cinema to water sports, canoting, tennis and all for outdoor activity!

The beach in front of the property is clean and nice, the water is not clear, it has a lot of algae. The apartment we stayed in was as expected from the pictures uploaded by the property. It was clean and comfortable, with plenty of space.

Snäck Annex is very conveniently located not far from the town center, with some sights nearby (f.i. the rauk, a natural phenomenon, called "The Chimp"). Parking is offered with the booking, which is very convenient. The Baltic is just opposite and to our surprise, you can even go swim closeby, this is included. The host/ staff is also very easy to deal with in terms of late arrival and early checkout. We had booked only 1 night here as we were between stops, but would definitely return to enjoy the area for a longer duration. The room is very good in size, the bathroom has everything you need. The cozy chalet by the sea feeling is just very nice!

If you are looking to stay in a quiet place with a royal, historical, touch, this is the place! Conveniently located close to Visby (10mins by car), the hotel sits on a cliff with the most amazing views and sunsets. We just loved the charm and history and the antique furniture and deco with a royal history. This kind of feeling just cannot be recreated in a modern setting. The uniqueness and authenticity of this place must be preserved! The staff is very friendly and easy-going and also for late arrivals or early check-out, convenient solutions are offered. We spent 4 nights here and were able to discover a lot of what the island of Gotland, and the town of Visby, have to offer. There is ample and absolutely safe parking within the (large) premises and the area is just great for (evening) walks and strolls. The ideal place to take in good Baltic Sea air, relax, enjoy and recharge the batteries. And that with everything just at the doorstep... We will most definitely return and highly recommend staying here!
