First off, the hosts were beyond kind. They gave us helpful advice, directions, etc. about Nikko and were just so lovely to talk to. If you're worried about language barrier at all, Mark is an ex-pat who speaks English, which is very handy. The property itself is right in the heart of Nikko's top sightseeing spots. You can literally see the famous bridge from outside. The rooms have been beautifully updated, particularly the high-tech bathroom. You can look out at the gorgeous river right behind the inn when taking a bath in the large tub. Downstairs, we enjoyed a delicious homemade breakfast in the morning (the mini croissants were to die for) and some tasty snacks/drinks in the evening. My husband and I kept commenting on how cozy the bar/eating area was and how easy it was to spend time there. We only ended up doing one night in Nikko and wish we had done more, both for the area and Shinkyo Inn. You can tell that so much love has gone into making the inn a special place. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we can't wait to come back!

La Vista Kusatsu Hills ligger i Kusatsu, 47 km fra Jigokudani Monkey Park, og tilbyder indkvartering med have, gratis privat parkering, fælles opholdsstue og terrasse. 100% best part of my stay was the view. very beautiful, even while relaxing in the onsen. room itself was comfortable and larger than expected. public hotel facilities were nice but limited (just the one top floor with a cafeteria/lounge and onsen). along with the public onsen there are four private onsen (no reservation required; you can just walk in and lock the door behind you). everything is clean and tidy. free food and snacks cycled in and out at the lounge. staff were very welcoming and accomodating. lovely food. i stayed two days in a row so was worried i might get the same menu, but the dinner menu was changed and i was provided an extra breakfast plate for my second breakfast to go with the standard buffet :) i read that it's not walkable, but the walk was rather nice, about ~8 minutes uphill walk from the bus terminal even with snow on the road. there is also a regular shuttle going both to the bus terminal and yubatake.

The staff are very nice and helpful, have a wonderful warm welcome and everyone working diligently. During my stay all the staff have been very supportive and nice, especially the F&B staffs. I only stayed one night, but I felt immediately at home and could not have been happier. The private, in-room onsen was the highlight of the room without question. Such a wonderful way to unwind and I spent hours in there. They keep the onsen very hot, hotter than most I've been to, but it's easy to add cold water to cool it down and if you go too far, a call to the front desk will have hot water piping back in. I enjoyed soaking while watching the snow fall through the open window - and was very comfortable! The room was extremely spacious with sliding partitions for each area, so if traveling with a partner or family, it would be easy to create privacy when needed. In-room amenities were great. Nice lotions, soaps, etc. Lighting in the room was very nice - I believe about 6 different settings you can choose from to create the mood you're looking for. The meals were absolutely top notch and unforgettable, both the dinner and breakfast. I can't say enough good things but the food surpassed all my expectations. Simply lovely. Checking in and out was very smooth and simple. It was easy to catch a taxi from directly outside Tobu Nikko station and when it was time to leave, the staff called a taxi for me.
