Beautiful hotel in a great location only two blocks away from the main street with shops, bars and restaurants, plus only a short drive away from the Gran Sasso park. The staff were very friendly and accomodating with check-in and check-out timings - even arranging for arrosticini to be delivered to us one evening. The room was spacious, quiet and very tastefully decorated. Being in an old building with solid walls the room temperature was cool even when it was 34'C outside and no air conditioning was required.

This hotel is on the town’s (Poggio Picenze) main road and easy to get to. The hotel is close to Gran Sasso National Park, and a short hop to Sulmona. The proprietor was friendly and accommodating, giving us a ground floor room when he realized the steps might be a challenge for us. The rooms are spacious, the internet is perfect, the bathrooms modern. The associated restaurant had fine food, though a bit pricey. The breakfast includes delicious crostada and other tasty homemade Italian baked goods.

Large new apartment, very comfortable, very clean, equipped with everything a family might need for a few day stay including cooking. Situated in a calm street. Great to sit on the balcony for breakfast and dinner. Very nice and responsive host. A good supermarket a walking distance away (with a small climb up the street). Not at the center of L'Aquila, but a 6-7 min drive from it. L'Aquila is close to Gran Sasso National Park which was convenient for us.

Safe closed parking with elevator to the room. Comfy room with big TV and amazing shower. Excellent buffet breakfast...( first hotel so far in our 15 days trip where the buffet was fully available, with many security measures of course, such a pleasure not to be restricted...) Beautiful park just in front of the hotel with fortifications... Really good choice for our step before reaching Gran Sasso... we would definitely come back again...

Ideal location right at the foothills of Gran Sasso. The apartment was nestled up a tiny street in a lovely little village. The host Peppe was very friendly and provided a lovely breakfast. We chatted about the mountains and he advised on some of the best hikes in the area. Parking was a bit tight and the streets were quite narrow so be weary if driving anything larger than a Fiat 500!

The receptionist was extremely welcoming, including being able to provide a snack when the kitchen was theoretically closed. The hotel in general had a relaxed atmosphere, and the location provides a good base from which to begin exploration of the Gran Sasso in summer. The breakfast was fine, and the coffee very good. The WiFi is surprisingly good for a mountain location.

Very nice Hotel a bit out of town. Good shaded parking under some trees. Popular location for weddings, however since the Restaurant is about a 100m away no noise. Good starting point for road cycling tours in the Area: Campo Felice, Campo Imperatore (Gran Sasso),.... There is a shopping mall about 2.5km away with a huge Spazio Conad.

We had a great short stay in the beautiful village..we could walk to local cafes & restaurants & easily reach Gran Sasso & the castle. We came for cooler temperatures & and hiking. It was perfect for us as a base. We slept so well in coll temperatures with no mosquitos Clean comfortable place with helpful, friendly staff.

Very nice decoration of rooms and common areas, cleanliness, comfortable beds, modern bathroom with washing machine, easy public parking on the street in front of the apartments. Very good contact via whatsapp with the host, who also recommended an excellent restaurant nearby. Good spot to explore Campo Imperatore and Gran Sasso.

Good location for hiking tours in Gran Sasso National Park. Large size of the apartment, suitable equipment and comfortable furniture.

That it has Mountain Views amd was v peaceful

A beautiful restored palazzo with an excellent restaurant serving “zero mile” local cuisine with produce sourced from neighbouring farms. Really excellent value for both the meal and room. Santo Stefano is one of the most picturesque villages in Abruzzi with walking trails in the National Park on your doorstep. Staff are warm and efficient.
