Hotel in Río Dulce
In the Rio Dulce river near a 16th century castle the Tortugal Boutique River Lodge peninsula is bathed by almost constant on shore breezes providing a cool and refreshing place. What did we like? All of it! The rooms are tastefully decorated. They were very comfy, despite being in the middle of nature. Attentive staff, picked us up to and fro Rio Dulce. Good food, cold beers. Very refreshing to be able to jump in the river when hot!
Hotel in Río Dulce
El Hotelito Perdido is a little jungle hideaway located in a middle of Rio Dulce National Park. This was genuinely the highlight of my 3 weeks in Guatemala. Stunning location, the staff were an absolute pleasure to deal with and the owners were so warm and friendly. Couldn't advise more
Hotel in Izabal
Located in Izabal, 28 miles from Castle of San Felipe de Lara, Reserva Natural Cañón Seacacar has accommodations with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant. Perfect place hidden in a small village. It’s the only accommodation in the village and has been build to help the local community. The first language in the village is Q’eqchi, the children are now learning Spanish in school from about age 5. The staff of the hotel is from the village and for them it is a place to learn and work in tourism. They are all very friendly and helpful. If you want to have a great Guatemalan experience in one of the most beautiful places of Guatemala, where the crowds don’t go (yet), this is where you want to go! I reached the hotel by a two hour trail that is insanely beautiful, constructed by the people of the village, easy to follow and a good climb to two wooden miradors with lake and jungle views. Always with the sound of absolutely fantastic river ‘sauce’ on the background. The next day I went down on a tube and they carried my bag down. The tubing in the river is what will drop your yaws!! Absolutely beautiful, a cañón with high Walls on both sides. Everything is well organized and clean. It absolutely worth a visit! I’m writing this review because I could not believe that I was the only tourist there (on a Saturday)! You will not regret your visit and you will probably (hopefully) write a similar review to help this village and the people creating a better future for there town. There are several projects ongoing, including deforestation! Go and enjoy jungle, river and peace while enjoying great food and comfortable accommodation(affordable too!)
Hotel in Río Dulce
Hotel Kangaroo y Restaurante has a garden, shared lounge, a restaurant and bar in Río Dulce. The property has room service, a concierge service and currency exchange for guests. The hotel is on a peaceful part of the river. The rooms are rustic but nicely done and very clean. We were worried about not having air conditioning but the fan worked well and we slept great. It cools down considerably at night. Shower has hot water and was better thanks shower in Flores. Free pick up and drop off in Rio Dulce with good communication. Meals were excellent and well priced. We used their tour to go up the lake to Livingstone and it was a highlight of our trip. We also rented a kayak to paddle across to the castle and along the river. The owners are very nice and helpful. If you are debating about staying here versus either Rio Dulce or Livingston, we definitely recommend Kangaroo. The towns are not nice to stay in.

Nanajuana Río Dulce has a restaurant, outdoor swimming pool, a fitness center and bar in Río Dulce. Among the various facilities of this property are a shared lounge, a garden and barbecue facilities.... The hotel is actually much nicer than the photos. Our room was upgraded and we were given an amazing room right next to the water and marina. The pool is large and very clean, And the food at the restaurant was excellent, really good quality, so although a little more expensive than in some places, it was definitely worth it.
