I really enjoyed staying at Electra Suites on my recent trip to Samothraki! I only got to stay for two nights but will definitely go back next time I visit the island. Stelios is a generous host and went above and beyond to make sure I had a good trip– in fact, on my first day, he actually drove me around the island himself so that I could visit the Sanctuary of the Great Gods and Chora! Even with the language barrier, we had a pleasant time conversing via Google Translate. The other staff at the hotel were friendly and made me feel at home. Overall, a lovely group of people to spend a long weekend with. I value peace & quiet when I travel, and so I appreciated staying somewhere without street traffic or restaurant sounds that was still close to the amenities. Stelios recommended a taverna with good food about a five minute walk from the restaurant, and I went back there several times. The name was Sta Kala Kathoumena and the walk takes you through the church's courtyard. If you can, I do recommend renting a car or a motorbike to get around the island– I came during the off-season and didn't realize how limited the public transit options were. I appreciated Stelios taking the time to drive me around, but I also knew he was busy running the hotel! The taxi stand on the waterfront is an easy walk- bring cash. I also spotted a scooter rental on the main drag. I have trouble sleeping, and felt very safe walking around Kamariotissa at night while trying to settle my thoughts. Stay aware of your surroundings and carry a flashlight for visibility, as there are few sidewalks in the side streets and you'll want to quickly get out of the way when people are driving through. Wherever you are in the village, you'll be able to see Mt. Saos or the sea. Rooms: The rooms were very clean, comfortable and modern. Das Alekas Studios ist von einem üppigen Garten mit Hydrangeas umgeben und liegt 150 m vom Strand von Therma entfernt. Die kleine Anlage liegt etwa 500 Meter vom nächsten Strand an der Nordküste Samothrakis entfernt, zudem etwa 10 Minuten fußläufig vom kleinen Ortszentrum von Therma. Entsprechend ruhig ist die Lage (was auf der klenen Insel in der Nachsaison jedoch nichts Besonderes ist). Die kleinen Häuschen liegen im Grünen. Bei unserem Zimmer handelte es sich um ein kleines Apartment mit Küchenzeile, einer kleinen Außenküche und Veranda. Abgesehen davon, dass die Ausstattung der Küche (mit Besteck und Geschirr) etwas vollständiger hätte sein können, war alles gut bestückt - hier ist man Selbstversorger. Die Zimmer waren sehr sauber und wurden regelmäßig (oder nach Bedarf/Absprache) gereinigt bzw. Bettwäsche/Handtücher gewechselt. Wer, zumal in der Nebensaison, nach Samothraki fährt, ist zumeist auf Naturerleben aus, dazu muss man sich - möglichst mit eigenem Fahrzeug - aufmachen. Inhaberin Aleka ist hilfsbereit und sehr freundlich; sie besitzt außerdem eine Pension in der Inselhauptstadt Chora, ein sehr sehenswertes Örtchen. Für uns wäre "Alekas Studio" bei einem weiteren Samothraki-Besuch erste Wahl.
