Its less a hotel than a couples retreat, in the best way possible. Huge rooms with great facilities, white tablecloth restaurant downstairs. Massive grounds to wander around. In the evenings we availed ourselves of the sauna facilities followed by a spa (onsite shower first though). Its all outside surrounded by nature and quite private. Its not just quiet, its peaceful. The staff are engaging, friendly, spoke great English (making up for our poor French). Remarkbly good value. We felt very special , what a great way to finish up our 3 weeks in France.

La Maison de Mathilde is set in Bayeux, 100 metres from Baron Gerard Museum and 200 metres from Museum of the Bayeux Tapestry. The room was lovely and clean. For breakfast, there was coffee, juice, breads, yogurts, and American offerings like bacon and eggs. The location is near the cathedral, tour pick-ups, and many restaurants. We walked from the train station but taxis are available. Bayeux is a must-see. Don't miss the famous tapestry.

At Port-en-Bessin, situated between the D-day landing beaches and the town of Bayeux in the heart of historic Normandy, stands the charming 18th century Chateau La Chenevière. The hotel was beautiful. The staff were amazing, nothing was too much trouble for them. We got lost trying to find the hotel and Mikey who was working on reception that night came out to meet us and escort us to the hotel. He then continued to go above and beyond to make us feel welcome when we finally reached the hotel. The other staff were also wonderfully welcoming and helpful. This hotel is one of the best hotels that I have ever stayed in and I have travelled all over the world. We all loved it especially my pet Westie. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Hôtel Le Manoir De Mathan Crépon à la campagne 5 mn d'Arromanches et 10 mn de Bayeux is located in Crepon, a 30 minute drive from Caen and 3 km from the D-Day Beaches. Beautiful and relaxing. Exceptionally spacious room with huge armoire and chest, table and sofa. Lovely view from both sides onto entrance drive and gardens and at back the lawns and orchard. Very special ambience. Very good breakfast and the manager gave us a deal as we don’t eat a large breakfast. Good restaurant recommendations. We tried 3 of them going back to each as they were so good.
